What to Do if You Used the Wrong Deposit Network on OKX? Is Recovery Possible?

It depends on whether you deposited to your own wallet or to the OKX platform. If you chose the wrong network when depositing to your own non-custodial wallet, you can recover the funds as long as you have the private key or seed phrase. If you deposited to OKX and chose the wrong network, recovery is much more difficult; the platform does not guarantee it can be processed, but you can try submitting a request through customer service or the self-service tool.

Step 1: Determine Which Situation You Are In

SituationDescriptionDifficulty of Recovery
A: Deposited to your own wallet (non-custodial)You hold the private key/seed phrase for the walletYou can recover it yourself
B: Deposited to OKX but selected the wrong networkOn the OKX deposit page you chose Network A, but the sender used Network BContact customer service; no guarantee of success
C: Deposited to OKX but the network is not supportedThe sender used a network that OKX does not support at allPossibly unable to recover; submit an application to attempt recovery

Completion criterion: Confirm whether you belong to category A, B, or C.

Step 2: Category A – Wrong Network to Your Own Wallet, You Can Recover It Yourself

Principle: Your assets are simply on a chain that your wallet cannot "see". Because the same private key generates the same address across different EVM-compatible chains, importing that private key into a wallet that supports that network will make the assets visible.

Prerequisites:

  • Hold the private key or seed phrase for the deposit address

  • Have the native token of that network as gas fee in the wallet (e.g., ETH, BNB, OKT, etc.)

Specific steps (using OKX Web3 Wallet as an example):

  1. Open the OKX App, go to [Web3 Wallet], select [Import Wallet], and import your original wallet address via private key or seed phrase

  2. On the Web3 Wallet homepage, tap the network switch and select the network you mistakenly sent to (e.g., BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, etc.)

  3. Switch to the OKX exchange page: go to [Assets] - [Deposit], select the coin and network (the same as the network you mistakenly used), and copy the deposit address

  4. Go back to Web3 Wallet, tap [Send], paste the copied address, enter the amount, and complete the transfer (ensure the wallet has the corresponding chain's native token to pay gas fees)

Completion criterion: Assets have been transferred back to the OKX platform, and you can see the balance on the assets page.

Step 3: Category B – Wrong Network When Depositing to OKX, Try Contacting Customer Service

If you deposited from another platform to OKX but selected the wrong network (for example, you selected TRC20 on the OKX deposit page, but you sent via ERC20), the assets will not arrive automatically.

Steps to take:

  1. Copy the transaction hash (TxID) of this transfer and take a screenshot of the deposit record

  2. In the OKX App, go to [Help Center] and contact online customer service

  3. Provide the coin name, amount, TxID, deposit address, and the incorrect network information

  4. Customer service will determine whether they can assist

Notes:

  • OKX officially states that deposits of unsupported coins or using unsupported networks usually cannot be refunded; they will do their best to assist but do not guarantee success

  • The information submitted must be accurate; the coin and network names must exactly match those on the sending platform, otherwise processing may be delayed

Completion criterion: Customer service has accepted the request and a ticket number has been obtained.

Step 4: Category C – Network Not Supported, Submit Application via Self-Service Tool

If the network used by the sender is completely unsupported by OKX, you can try OKX's deposit self-service tool.

  1. Open the OKX App, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner, and select [Help Center]

  2. Select [View Recent Transactions] - [Can't find your deposit?]

  3. Fill in the form: select the coin, network (if not in the list, you can enter it manually), input the TxID, and click to query

  4. If the system indicates it cannot find the transaction, select [Request Help], provide additional information as required, and submit

Completion criterion: Successfully submitted the application and obtained a ticket number.

Key Notes and Risk Warning

  • Preparation for fees: If recovering from your own wallet, the wallet must have the corresponding chain's native tokens (e.g., ETH, BNB, OKT, etc.) as gas fees, otherwise the operation cannot be completed

  • Do not deposit to a smart contract address: You can only deposit using the dedicated deposit address generated by the platform for that coin; depositing to a contract address will not be credited

  • Encountering an "operation cannot be completed" prompt: This may mean the chain for that coin is temporarily not supported in the Web3 Wallet; wait for subsequent support before operating

Next Steps

First confirm your situation – whether you mistakenly sent to your own wallet or to the OKX platform. If it's the former, directly import the private key into Web3 Wallet and transfer back yourself; if it's the latter, prepare the TxID and screenshot, and submit an application through the OKX App [Help Center].
