How to Deposit OP on OKX? Optimism Deposit Tutorial
OP is the native token of the Optimism chain, and there is only one correct network for deposits — the Optimism mainnet. The OP in your wallet is on the Optimism network, so the OKX deposit page must also select the Optimism network. If the networks on both sides don't match, the funds won't arrive, potentially resulting in asset loss.
1. Complete OKX Account KYC
What to do: Make sure your OKX account has completed identity verification.
How to do it:
Log in to the OKX app or website, go to [Profile] → [Identity Verification].
Follow the instructions to submit your ID documents and complete standard identity verification.
When is it considered done: Your account shows "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verification" status.
Accounts that haven't completed KYC cannot use the deposit function.
2. Get Your OP Deposit Address on OKX
What to do: Log in to OKX, go to the deposit page, get the OP deposit address and confirm the network is Optimism mainnet.
How to do it:
Log in to the OKX app or website, tap [Assets] → [Deposit] → [Deposit crypto].
Search for "OP".
Select network: Choose [Optimism]. OKX explicitly supports the Optimism network; the OP mainnet is listed in both OKX Wallet and API services' supported networks.
The page will generate a deposit address (starting with "0x"). Copy it.
When is it considered done: You have copied the OP deposit address provided by OKX and confirmed the selected network is Optimism.
Prerequisites: OKX KYC identity verification completed.
If the deposit page shows "The network is under maintenance", it means OKX is upgrading the Optimism network and you need to wait until maintenance is completed before proceeding.
3. Initiate the Transfer from Your External Wallet
What to do: Send OP from your external wallet (e.g., MetaMask, OKX Web3 Wallet, etc.) to your OKX OP deposit address.
How to do it:
Open your external wallet, find the OP asset, and click [Send] or [Transfer].
In the "Recipient address" field, paste the OP address you copied from OKX (starting with "0x").
Crucial step: In the "Select network" field, you must choose [Optimism] — exactly the same network you selected on OKX. Both the sending and receiving sides must choose the same currency and network; this is the most basic requirement for a successful deposit.
Make sure your wallet has enough ETH to cover gas fees (Optimism is a Layer‑2 network and gas fees are paid in ETH).
Submit the transaction.
When is it considered done: The transaction has been submitted, the wallet displays "Transaction broadcast" or "Pending", and you have the TxID.
Common reasons for failure:
Wrong network selected: OKX chose Optimism, but the wallet selected Ethereum mainnet — funds will be sent to the Ethereum mainnet, and OKX's Optimism address cannot receive them.
Insufficient gas fees: There isn't enough ETH in the wallet to pay the Optimism network transaction fee.
Token contract address mismatch: OP has a specific token contract address on the Optimism mainnet. Make sure the OP in your wallet is native OP on the Optimism network, not a wrapped version from another network.
Risk reminder:
Network mismatch = potential permanent loss of funds: When depositing or withdrawing, you must ensure the networks selected on both platforms are exactly the same. Even if the currency is the same, different networks may lead to asset loss.
Deposit addresses are unique: Each currency on each network has a different deposit address. Do not use an address for another currency or network to deposit OP.
4. Confirm the Deposit
What to do: Wait for blockchain confirmations and check your OKX account balance.
How to do it:
Use the TxID to check the transaction status on an Optimism block explorer. Optimism network confirmations usually complete within a few minutes.
Log in to OKX, go to [Assets] → [Funding Account] or [Trading Account], and see if the OP balance has increased.
When is it considered done: The OP balance in your OKX trading account has updated.
How to confirm you've done everything correctly?
Enter the TxID in an Optimism block explorer and verify the transaction status is "Success". Then log in to OKX and see the increased OP balance on the [Assets] page. For first-time operations, it's advisable to transfer a small amount as a test. Once it arrives, transfer the remaining amount. If the funds haven't arrived after a long time, double‑check whether the network you selected during the deposit and the network used in your wallet transfer are exactly the same — this is the most common reason OP deposits get stuck. If the transaction is confirmed on‑chain but the deposit hasn't been credited, refer to OKX Help Center's guide on handling uncredited deposits.
