Depositing GMX and buying GMX are two different things. If you already have GMX and want to transfer it to OKX, the key is choosing the right network (Arbitrum or Avalanche). If you don't have GMX yet, it's faster to buy it directly on OKX with USDT, which also saves on gas fees.

1. Identify Where Your GMX Is and on Which Network

What to do: Figure out whether you haven't bought GMX yet, already hold it on OKX, or have it in an on-chain wallet.

How to do it:

Case A: You don't have GMX yet. No deposit is needed – just buy it directly on OKX. Open OKX, search for the "GMX/USDT" trading pair, and buy with USDT. OKX spot trading fees are 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker (Source: OKX official website, 2026-07-08).

Case B: Your GMX is already in your OKX account. No action is needed. If you want to send it to an external wallet, use the withdrawal process.

Case C: Your GMX is in an on-chain wallet (e.g. MetaMask, imToken). GMX is deployed on the Arbitrum and Avalanche networks. Open your wallet and check which network your GMX is on:

  • Arbitrum → choose the Arbitrum network for deposit

  • Avalanche → choose the Avalanche network for deposit

OKX DEX supports GMX deposits on the Arbitrum network, and OKX's GMX buying guide clearly reminds you to select the correct network for the deposit address.

When is it considered complete: You have clearly determined which network your GMX is on.

Prerequisite: Your OKX account must have completed identity verification (KYC); deposits are not possible without it.

2. Deposit GMX from an On-Chain Wallet to OKX

What to do: Send GMX from your wallet to your OKX exchange account.

How to do it:

  1. Open the OKX app, tap Assets at the bottom, and select Deposit.

  2. Search for "GMX".

  3. Choose the network: Based on your check in Step 1, select Arbitrum or Avalanche. Choosing the wrong network will result in the loss of your assets. OKX's deposit guide specifically reminds you: the same token symbol may exist on multiple networks; always verify the contract address and blockchain.

  4. The page will display a deposit address and a minimum deposit amount. If the amount sent is below the minimum, the funds will not be credited.

  5. Copy the address, open your wallet, and initiate the transfer. Make sure your wallet network matches the selected network.

When is it considered complete: The transfer has been submitted and OKX shows "deposit in progress".

Prerequisite: In addition to GMX, your wallet must hold the gas token for the corresponding network – ETH is needed on Arbitrum, AVAX on Avalanche. Some tutorials mention that you need ARB_ETH (ETH on Arbitrum) to cover network fees.

Common reason for failure: Selecting the wrong network. GMX exists on both Arbitrum and Avalanche. If your wallet holds GMX on Arbitrum but you select Avalanche for the deposit, the funds cannot be recovered.

Risk warning: Blockchain transfers are irreversible. For first-time operations, it is recommended to send a small test amount first, confirm it arrives, and then transfer the rest.

3. Buy GMX Directly on OKX (If You Don't Have It Yet)

What to do: If you don't have GMX yet, buy it directly on OKX with USDT to avoid the hassle of depositing and gas fees.

How to do it:

  1. Make sure you have USDT in your account. If not, deposit funds first via bank transfer, credit card, P2P, or other methods. Bank transfers usually take 1-3 business days to arrive, while credit card/PayPal etc. are typically instant. OKX also supports buying with Apple Pay.

  2. Go to Trade - Spot and search for "GMX/USDT".

  3. Choose a market order (filled immediately) or a limit order (set a price and wait to be filled).

  4. Once the order is filled, the GMX will appear in your spot account.

When is it considered complete: Your spot account shows a GMX balance.

Prerequisite: The account has completed KYC and has a sufficient USDT balance. Some features may be restricted by region.

Common reason for failure: GMX is the governance token of a decentralized exchange and does not belong to the GMX trading platform itself. Make sure you are buying the token "GMX" and not a trading product on the platform.

4. Withdraw GMX from OKX to an External Wallet

What to do: If you bought GMX on OKX and want to transfer it to your own wallet for storage.

How to do it:

  1. Go to Assets - Withdraw and search for GMX.

  2. Enter your external wallet address.

  3. Choose the correct network: Check whether your wallet supports Arbitrum or Avalanche and select accordingly. Usually, GMX wallets are primarily on the Arbitrum network.

  4. Confirm the amount and fee, then complete the verification.

When is it considered complete: The withdrawal status shows "Completed" and the GMX has arrived in your external wallet.

Prerequisite: Your external wallet must be switched to the corresponding Arbitrum or Avalanche network. Test with a small amount before withdrawing.

Next steps:

  • You already have GMX on-chain: Follow Step 2. Send a small test transaction first, confirm it arrives, then transfer the rest. Before depositing, check the minimum deposit amount on OKX's deposit page for that network.

  • You don't have GMX yet: Follow Step 3 – buying with USDT is the simplest option.
