How to Deposit ETC on OKX – Ethereum Classic Funding Guide

1. Complete OKX Account KYC
What to do: Ensure your OKX account has completed identity verification.
How to do it:
Log in to the OKX App or website, go to [Profile] → [Identity Verification].
Follow the instructions to submit your ID documents and complete standard identity verification.
Completion criteria: Account shows "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verification" status.
2. Get Your ETC Deposit Address on OKX
What to do: Log in to OKX, go to the deposit page, get your ETC deposit address and confirm the network.
How to do it:

Search for "ETC".

ETC and ETH addresses both start with 0x and have the same format, but the networks are completely separate. You must choose the correct network; otherwise, assets cannot be recovered.
3. Initiate Transfer from External Wallet
What to do: From your external wallet (e.g., MetaMask, Trust Wallet, hardware wallet), deposit ETC to OKX.
How to do it:
Open your external wallet, locate your ETC assets, and click [Send] or [Transfer].
In the recipient address field, paste the ETC address you copied from OKX (starting with 0x).
Critical step: In the network selection, you must choose [ETC Mainnet] or [Ethereum Classic], exactly matching the network you selected on OKX. If you choose ETH Mainnet (Ethereum Mainnet) in the wallet, the funds will be sent to the ETH chain and will not arrive.
Ensure your wallet has enough ETC to pay the gas fee (ETC network transfers require a small amount of ETC).
Submit the transaction.
Completion criteria: The transaction has been submitted, the wallet shows "Transaction broadcast" or "Pending confirmation", and you have obtained the TxID.
Common reasons for failure:
Wrong network (most common): OKX selected ETC Mainnet, but wallet selected ETH Mainnet. Address format same but different chain, funds sent to Ethereum mainnet, cannot be credited.
Sent to ETH address: Wallets like MetaMask default to ETH mainnet; you need to manually switch to the ETC network to send ETC.
Insufficient gas fee: Not enough ETC in wallet to cover the transaction fee.
Risk reminder:
Network matching is mandatory: The deposit network must match the withdrawal/wallet network, otherwise coins will be lost. ETC and ETH addresses have the same format but different networks, making errors especially easy.
Test with small amount: For first time, send a small amount as a test, and after it arrives, send the remaining balance.
Address ≠ Network: Even if the address starts with 0x, selecting the wrong network means two different chains, and funds cannot be interchanged.

4. Confirm Arrival
What to do: Wait for blockchain confirmation, check your OKX account balance.
How to do it:
Use the TxID to check the transaction status on an ETC blockchain explorer (such as etcchain.com or blockchair.com). ETC network block time is about 10-15 seconds, and confirmation usually completes within a few minutes.
Log in to OKX, go to [Assets] → [Funding Account] or [Trading Account], and check if the ETC balance has increased.
Completion criteria: Your OKX trading account's ETC balance has been updated.
How to confirm you have done it correctly?
Enter the TxID on an ETC blockchain explorer and confirm the transaction status is "Success". Then log in to OKX and see the ETC balance increase on the [Assets] page. If it hasn't arrived for a long time, check whether the network selected during deposit on OKX exactly matches the network used by the wallet for the transfer. This is the most common stumbling block for ETC deposits. Since ETC and ETH address formats are identical, especially confirm that the wallet selected ETC Mainnet, not ETH Mainnet.
