Does OKX Require a Memo for EOS Deposits?
Conclusion: When depositing EOS to OKX, you must fill in the Memo. Like XRP, XLM, and similar coins, EOS uses a shared deposit address for the exchange. The Memo acts as the "apartment number" that identifies which user the funds belong to. If you leave it out or get it wrong, the funds will not automatically appear in your account.

Prerequisites: Two things to check before you start
Before you make a transfer, make sure you have these two items ready:
Your OKX EOS deposit Memo: This is a string of digits (usually 7–8 numbers). It is not your account password or email address.
The platform or wallet you are sending from: It must support transfers on the EOS network, and the withdrawal interface must include a field for entering the Memo.
Steps: Get your unique Memo and complete the transfer
Option A: Using the OKX App
Open the OKX App, tap the Assets icon in the bottom menu, then tap Deposit.
Type EOS into the search bar and select it.
The page will show the deposit network and your Deposit Address. Right below it, a separate and clearly visible string of numbers is your Memo. The page usually displays an exclamation mark warning that "This coin requires a tag". Read the reminder carefully.
Copy both the Deposit Address and the Memo. Paste them into the "Withdraw / Send" page of the platform or wallet you are sending from.
On the sending platform, look for the field labelled "Memo", "Tag", or "Remarks" and paste your Memo. What counts as done: The Memo field on the sending platform contains the exact number, and you have verified digit by digit that it matches the number shown on your OKX page.
Option B: Using the OKX Website
Log in to the OKX website, hover over Assets in the top navigation bar, and select Deposit from the drop‑down menu.
Under the "Crypto" tab, search for and choose EOS.
The page will display the deposit address and a Memo QR code together with the Memo string. Click the copy icon next to the address and the Memo; a green checkmark will appear to confirm each has been copied.
Again, paste the address and Memo into the corresponding fields on the sending platform. What counts as done: After copying, paste them into the withdrawal form and make sure the Memo field is not left empty.
Common mistakes and risk warnings
Most common mistake: forgetting or mis‑typing the Memo. This is the number one reason EOS deposits do not arrive. Many people copy only the address and ignore the Memo. An even trickier mistake happens when you select an address saved in your address book – if you saved it without a Memo originally, the withdrawal page may not show a Memo field, leading you to forget it entirely.
Risk warning: potential loss or long‑term freezing of funds
Risk of loss: If the Memo is wrong (e.g. one digit missing, extra digit, totally different number), your EOS will go into OKX's main wallet but the system cannot assign it to your personal account. The funds will be stuck in the "post room". You will need to contact support with the transaction hash (TxID) for manual recovery – a very tedious process that can take weeks.
Misunderstanding of "lost assets": Once an on‑chain transaction succeeds, the assets do not disappear; they simply sit in OKX's shared address. However, from the point of view of your personal account, this money is unusable until customer support steps in.
Never share your private key or seed phrase with any "support agent" or third party. OKX will never proactively ask you for this information.

How to confirm you did it correctly
After the transfer, go back to the OKX Assets page and check the funding records for EOS. If you see an entry labelled "Deposit pending" or "Deposit successful" with the correct amount, your Memo was filled in correctly and the funds have arrived safely. If nothing shows up after 30 minutes, go to the OKX Help Center, submit a ticket, provide your TxID and the correct Memo, and wait for manual processing.
