EIGEN is the governance token of the EigenLayer protocol, deployed on the Ethereum mainnet as an ERC-20 token. There is one key principle when depositing EIGEN: the network you choose on the OKX deposit page must exactly match the network where your EIGEN tokens are held in your wallet. Currently, EIGEN mainly circulates on the Ethereum network, and addresses start with "0x". Selecting the wrong network will result in irreversible loss of funds.
1. Complete OKX Account KYC
What to do: Ensure your OKX account has completed identity verification.
How to do it:
Log in to the OKX app or website, go to [Profile] → [Identity Verification].
Follow the instructions to submit your identity documents and complete standard identity verification.
How to know it's done: The account shows "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verification" status.
An account that has not completed KYC cannot use the deposit function.
2. Confirm the Network of Your EIGEN
What to do: Open the wallet where your EIGEN is stored and check which chain the tokens are on.
How to do it:
EIGEN is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. The contract address is 0xec53bF9167f50cDEB3Ae105f56099aaaB9061F83.
In your wallet, check the EIGEN asset details and confirm that the "Network" field shows Ethereum or ERC20.
If you see EIGEN on other networks (such as Arbitrum or BSC), it is a cross-chain version or a token with the same name. Before depositing, first confirm whether OKX supports EIGEN deposits on that network.
How to know it's done: You have confirmed that your EIGEN is currently on the Ethereum mainnet.
EIGEN currently mainly circulates on the Ethereum network. It was once in a "non-transferable" phase that restricted transfers, but on-chain transfers have since been enabled. It is recommended to verify the correct token contract address before depositing.
3. Get the EIGEN Deposit Address on OKX
What to do: Log in to OKX, go to the deposit page, select the Ethereum network, and copy your EIGEN deposit address.
How to do it:
Log in to the OKX app or website, click [Assets] → [Deposit] → [Deposit crypto].
Search for "EIGEN".
Select network: Choose [Ethereum (ERC20)] — this is the native network for EIGEN, and OKX supports receiving EIGEN via the Ethereum network.
The page will generate a deposit address (starting with "0x"). Copy it.
How to know it's done: You have copied the EIGEN deposit address provided by OKX and confirmed that the selected network is Ethereum (ERC20).

OKX supports buying EIGEN via various payment methods, including bank transfer, credit/debit card, Apple Pay, etc., but depositing requires moving EIGEN from an external wallet into your OKX account.
4. Initiate the Transfer from an External Wallet
What to do: Send EIGEN from your external wallet (such as MetaMask, OKX Web3 Wallet, etc.) to the OKX deposit address.
How to do it:
Open your external wallet and make sure the current network is switched to Ethereum mainnet.
Find your EIGEN asset and click [Send] or [Transfer].
Paste the EIGEN address you copied from OKX (starting with "0x") into the "Recipient address" field.
Critical step: Under "Select network", confirm that the network chosen is [Ethereum] — it must match exactly the network you selected on the OKX deposit page.
Make sure your wallet contains enough ETH to cover the gas fee (Ethereum mainnet transfers require ETH as transaction fees).
Submit the transaction.
How to know it's done: The transaction has been submitted, and the wallet shows "Transaction broadcast" or "Pending confirmation", and you have a TxID.
Common reasons for failure:
Wrong network selected: If you selected Ethereum on OKX but chose a different network (e.g., Arbitrum, BSC) in your wallet, the funds will be sent on the wrong chain and will not arrive.
Insufficient gas: Your wallet does not have enough ETH to pay the transaction fee.
Incomplete address copy: EIGEN addresses start with "0x". After pasting, double-check the first and last few characters.
Risk warning:
Network mismatch may result in loss of funds: Depositing to an unsupported network can lead to permanent loss of assets.
Deposit addresses are unique: The deposit address for each token on each network is different. Do not use the deposit address of another token for EIGEN deposits.
Additional risks from restaking: EIGEN is associated with restaking mechanisms. Participating in restaking may expose you to technical risks and slashing penalties.
5. Confirm the Deposit
What to do: Wait for blockchain confirmations and check your OKX account balance.
How to do it:
Use the TxID to look up the transaction status on Etherscan (etherscan.io). Confirmation time on Ethereum mainnet depends on the gas fee paid, typically ranging from a few minutes to several tens of minutes.
Log in to OKX, go to [Assets] → [Funding account] or [Trading account], and check whether the EIGEN balance has increased.
How to know it's done: The EIGEN balance in your OKX trading account has been updated.
How to confirm you have performed the steps correctly?
Enter the TxID on Etherscan and verify that the transaction status is "Success". Then log in to OKX and see the increased EIGEN balance on the [Assets] page. For first-time transactions, it is recommended to send a small test amount first; once it arrives, transfer the remaining balance. If the funds do not arrive after a long time, check whether the network you chose during deposit and the network used in the wallet transfer are exactly the same — EIGEN is an ERC-20 token, and using the Ethereum network for deposits is the safest choice.
