How to Deposit ATOM on OKX? Cosmos Funding Tutorial
The biggest difference between depositing ATOM and other cryptocurrencies is that you need to fill in two pieces of information: deposit address and Memo. OKX uses a shared ATOM deposit address for all users, and identifies each transaction by the Memo. 1. Complete OKX KYC Verification
What to do: Ensure your OKX account has completed identity verification.
How to do it:
Log in to the OKX app or website, go to 【Profile】→【Identity Verification】.
Follow the instructions to submit identity documents and complete standard identity verification.
What counts as completed: The account shows "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verification" status.
2. Get ATOM Deposit Address and Memo on OKX
What to do: Log in to OKX, go to the deposit page, and obtain the ATOM deposit address and Memo tag.
How to do it:
Log in to the OKX app or website, click 【Assets】→【Deposit】.
Search for "ATOM".
Select 【Cosmos Mainnet】— this is the native network of ATOM and the main deposit network supported by OKX.
The page will display two pieces of information:
Deposit Address: a string starting with "cosmos" or "atom", shared by all users.
Memo (Tag): a string of digits or characters, which is a unique identifier assigned to each user.
Copy both pieces of information and save them separately.
What counts as completed: Both the deposit address and the Memo tag have been copied; both are required.
Prerequisites: OKX KYC identity verification completed.
The Memo is mandatory, not optional. OKX uses a shared wallet address to receive ATOM, and the Memo is essential to differentiate user deposits. Without the Memo, funds go into OKX's general wallet but the system cannot match them to an account, leaving the money stuck.
3. Initiate Transfer from External Wallet: Fill in Address and Memo
What to do: Deposit ATOM from your external wallet (such as Keplr, Cosmostation, Atomic Wallet, etc.) to OKX.
How to do it:
Open your external wallet, locate the ATOM asset, and click 【Send】 or 【Transfer】.
Paste the ATOM deposit address you copied from OKX into the "Recipient Address" field.
Critical step: Find the "Memo" or "Note" field and paste the Memo tag copied from OKX.
If the wallet does not show a Memo field, try expanding "Advanced Options" or "More Settings".
Some wallets (such as Atomic Wallet) will not automatically credit the transfer if you send without filling in the Memo.
Ensure your wallet has enough ATOM to cover gas fees (Cosmos network transfers require a small amount of ATOM).
Submit the transaction.
What counts as completed: The transaction has been submitted, the wallet displays "Transaction broadcast" or "Pending confirmation", and you have confirmed that the Memo is correctly entered.
Common failure reasons:
Missing or incorrect Memo: This is the most common issue with ATOM deposits. One wrong digit in the Memo could route the funds to another user's Memo.
Mismatch between address and Memo: Using someone else's Memo or an old Memo. Always copy a fresh Memo from OKX before each deposit to ensure it's up to date.
Wrong network selected: Sending funds via a non-Cosmos network (like BEP20 or ERC20) to OKX's Cosmos address will result in funds not arriving.
Risk reminder:
Deposits suspended during network upgrades: OKX will suspend ATOM deposits and withdrawals during Cosmos network upgrades. Before proceeding, check that there is no suspension notice on the deposit page.
Old Memo may become invalid: OKX may update a user's Memo tag. If you haven't used it for a long time, log in to OKX and reconfirm the current Memo; do not use an old saved Memo.

4. Confirm Arrival
What to do: Wait for blockchain confirmations and check your OKX account balance.
How to do it:
Use the TxID to check transaction status on a Cosmos block explorer (e.g., mintscan.io). Cosmos network blocks are produced roughly every 7 seconds, and confirmations usually complete within 2–3 minutes.
Log in to OKX, go to 【Assets】→【Funding Account】 or 【Spot Account】, and see if your ATOM balance has increased.
What counts as completed: The ATOM balance in your OKX spot account has been updated.
How to confirm you have operated correctly? Enter the TxID in a block explorer and verify the transaction status is "Success". Then log in to OKX and check the 【Assets】 page to see the increased ATOM balance. If the transaction is confirmed on-chain but not credited after more than 30 minutes, check whether the Memo was entered correctly in the deposit record — this is where ATOM deposits most often get stuck. For first-time deposits, it is recommended to do a small test transfer first (e.g., 0.1–0.5 ATOM) and send the rest after it arrives.
