OKB burn records can be verified directly on the blockchain. OKX officially publishes the transaction hash (TxID) and burn address for each burn event. You can use that hash to check on the OKLink block explorer for much higher accuracy than third-party sites. After the mechanism update in August 2025, the total OKB supply was fixed at 21 million. The previous manual quarterly burn has been discontinued and replaced by automated smart contract burns.

Step 1: Get the burn transaction hash and burn address from the official announcement
All OKB burn records are first published on the OKX website's Announcement Center, not on third-party data sites.
What to do: Find the relevant burn announcement and copy the transaction hash (TxID) and the burn address. How to do it: Open the OKX website, scroll to the bottom and click [Announcement Center], then search for "OKB burn" or "buyback burn". Each announcement states the amount burned in that round, the corresponding time period, and the two most important pieces of information: transaction hash (TxID) and burn address.
The burn address in all announcements is the same: 0xff1Ee8604F9Ec9C3Bb292633bb939321Ae861b30. This is the official burn receiving address designated by OKB, and any OKB transferred to this address is considered permanently burned.
[Completion standard] You have copied a transaction hash (a string of hexadecimal characters starting with 0x) and are aware of the burn amount and time period from that announcement.
Step 2: Go to the OKLink block explorer, enter the hash, and view the on-chain record
Take the hash from the announcement and verify it on-chain yourself. Do not trust unofficial screenshots; self-verification is the most accurate.
What to do: Use the OKX-owned block explorer OKLink to check the on-chain status of the burn transaction. How to do it: Open OKLink and paste the TxID you copied in Step 1 into the search box. After the page loads, you will see:
Transaction status: must be
SuccessRecipient address (To): must be the burn address
0xff1Ee8604F9Ec9C3Bb292633bb939321Ae861b30Transfer amount: is exactly the burn amount stated in the announcement
[Completion standard] The transaction details show Success, the sender is an OKX official wallet, the receiver is the burn address, and the amount matches the announcement.
Common failure reason: Some people search "OKB" on OKLink and look at the "total burned" figure, but that number may not be synchronized with the latest announcement. The TxID in the official announcement is the authoritative proof; on-chain verification only confirms the authenticity of the announced information.

Step 3: Distinguish between "Historical quarterly burns" and the "2025 overhaul"
The OKB burn mechanism was updated after August 15, 2025. When querying, you need to differentiate which rule version applies.
| Period | Burn method | Total supply change |
|---|---|---|
| May 2019 – Aug 2025 (Quarterly burns) | Every 3 months, manual buyback and transfer to burn address | Total supply 300 million, gradually reduced |
| From Aug 15, 2025 | One-time burn of 65.26 million reserved OKB, discontinuing manual burns, switching to automated smart contract burns | Total supply fixed at 21 million |
The 28th burn was executed on June 19, 2026, burning 42.437 million OKB in a single event. To date, a cumulative total of 213 million OKB has been burned, accounting for 71.2% of the original total supply.
High-risk note: After the August 2025 overhaul, OKB's total supply has been fixed at 21 million and will no longer decrease through quarterly buybacks. If you see data on third-party sites showing "OKB total supply is still 240 million" or similar, that is outdated. After August 2025, the old OKB was migrated to the X Layer chain, and the total supply is locked.
Verification check after completing the steps: The on-chain transaction status on OKLink shows Success, the recipient address is the official burn address 0xff1Ee8604F9Ec9C3Bb292633bb939321Ae861b30, and the transfer amount matches the official announcement. For historical quarterly burn records, you can use the "Labels" feature on OKLink to filter all transactions marked as "OKB Burn".
