Berachain On-Chain Data Analysis: How Many Real Users Are There?
A direct look at the numbers: Since the Berachain mainnet launch, the cumulative number of addresses has reached approximately 33.28 million, but the daily active user data presents a significant contradiction — some sources claim 1.5 million daily active users, while other reports show on-chain daily revenue of just $84, less than $100. The real user count is far lower than the surface figures suggest. The primary reason is that a large number of wash-trading addresses from the testnet phase were mixed into the statistics, and ecosystem activity has shrunk dramatically since the mainnet launch.

1. Distinguish Between Testnet and Mainnet Data First
What to do: Understand the different data dimensions across Berachain's phases to avoid being misled by the total address count.
How to do it:
After Berachain launched its second testnet, v2 Bartio, in June 2024, the address count surged from 6.4 million to 240 million, with daily active addresses peaking at 7 million. These are testnet interaction data and do not represent real mainnet users.
The mainnet officially launched on February 6, 2025. The mainnet and testnet are two independent chains; their data cannot be used interchangeably.
What counts as done: Whenever you see any "total addresses" figure, you must clearly distinguish whether it refers to the mainnet or the testnet.
During the testnet, "interaction farming" was the dominant behavior — users repeatedly transacted in hopes of receiving an airdrop, resulting in a large number of "one-time interaction addresses" rather than genuinely active users. This data has no reference value now that the mainnet is live.
2. Check Mainnet Real Active Address Data
What to do: Use the mainnet block explorer to view the total address count and growth trend.
How to do it:
Open BeraScan (berascan.com), the official block explorer for the Berachain mainnet.
On the main page, look at the Unique Addresses chart.
As of July 2026, the cumulative number of mainnet addresses is about 33.28 million.
What counts as done: Confirm the mainnet total address count and observe the daily growth trend — the highest single-day increase reached 3.499 million, while the lowest was just 6 addresses.
3. Use DAU (Daily Active Users) to Gauge Real Activity
What to do: Check the number of wallets actually making on-chain transactions each day.
How to do it:
Scenario A (higher figure): Some analyses show that Berachain mainnet has about 1.5 million daily active users. This figure comes from an active address analysis method that counts unique wallets initiating at least one transaction per day.
Scenario B (lower figure): DefiLlama data shows Berachain's on-chain daily revenue is only $84, with a total stablecoin amount of about $153.5 million. Industry data platforms like CryptoRank note that Berachain "typically has daily revenue below $100," indicating extremely low activity.
What counts as done: Understand that these two sets of data cannot both be true — 1.5 million daily active users and $84 in daily revenue are impossible to reconcile. If daily active users were truly 1.5 million, the gas fees generated by on-chain transactions would not amount to just $84.
The statistical methodology behind the 1.5 million DAU figure may be flawed. The industry defines "active addresses" differently, and some wallet addresses may belong to bots or market makers rather than real users. More reliable reference metrics are the total stablecoin amount on-chain (about $153.5 million) and daily revenue (<$100) — these two numbers are far more persuasive in determining the number of "real users."

4. Cross-validate User Activity with TVL and Token Price
What to do: Use the on-chain total value locked and the token price to inversely verify user retention.
How to do it:
| Metric | Peak | Current (July 2026) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| TVL | $3.3 billion | $180 million | -94.5% |
| BERA Price | $9 | ~$0.19 | -97.8% |
| Daily Revenue | — | $84 | Extremely low |
What counts as done: Confirm that both TVL and price have plunged more than 90% from their peaks, indicating that a large number of early mainnet users have already exited.
Risk reminders:
Disproportionately high institutional share: In Berachain's total supply, early contributors hold 16.82% and private investors hold 34.31%. A large number of tokens are concentrated in VCs' hands, while the retail user share is extremely low.
Large token unlocks: On February 6, 2026, 63.75 million BERA (about 12.16% of supply) was unlocked, of which 28.58 million went to private investors. Since then, approximately 2.53% has been unlocked monthly. Continued selling pressure will further squeeze ecosystem activity.
Core team departures: The lead developer has left, and most of the retail marketing team has been laid off.
How to confirm you have reached a conclusion on the real user count?
We recommend using the total stablecoin amount on-chain and daily revenue as core reference indicators — these directly reflect real on-chain economic activity. Currently, Berachain mainnet has about $153.5 million in stablecoins and daily revenue below $100. Based on this, the real number of active on-chain users is in the thousands to tens of thousands, far below the claimed 1.5 million DAU. The next step is to watch whether the network can attract liquidity again through its PoL mechanism, and whether token unlocks will have a lasting impact on price and user confidence.
