How to Bind a Backup Phone Number After Binance Registration?
After registration, to bind a backup phone number, the operation path is: [Security Settings] → [Phone Number] → [Edit]. If the original number can still receive verification codes, it can be done within minutes on the App. If the original number is no longer active, you need to go through customer service or the KYC review channel.

1. Standard Procedure: Original Phone Number Still Works
This is the smoothest scenario — you simply want to add another number to your account, and the original number can still receive SMS.
App Operations:
Open theBinanceApp, tap [Profile] at the bottom right to enter personal center
Tap [Account & Security] → [Phone Number]
Tap [Change Phone Number], enter the new phone number
The system will send a verification code to theoriginal phone number; enter it to complete identity verification
Then send a verification code to thenew phone number; enter it to confirm the change
Web Operations:
Log in tobinance.com, hover over the avatar in the top right corner → [Account & Security]
Select [Security Settings] from the left menu → [Phone Number] → Click [Edit]
Enter the new phone number, complete original number verification, new number verification, and Google Authenticator two-factor verification in order
After the change, the SMS verification channel for the account will switch to the new number. The old number will no longer receive verification SMS from Binance.
2. When the Original Number Cannot Receive Verification Codes
If the original phone number is deactivated, you forgot to unbind it after changing numbers, or cannot receive international SMS, you can handle it through the following paths:
Method 1: Email Verification (Recommended)Log in, go to Security Settings, click [Change Phone Number], and select [Verify via Email]. The system will send a verification link to the registered email; click it to directly bind the new number without needing to receive SMS on the original number.
Method 2: YubiKey Hardware KeyIf you have already bound a YubiKey as a 2FA device, you can select hardware key verification when changing the phone number, bypassing the SMS step.
Method 3: Customer Service Manual ReviewWhen the original number is completely invalid and no other verification methods are available:
Go to [Help Center] → [Contact Support] within the Binance App
State "Original phone number deactivated, request to change binding"
Submit valid ID photo, registered email, and recent transaction screenshots
After review approval, customer service will guide you to bind the new phone number
Method 4: KYC Review ChannelUsers who have completed Level 2 identity verification can trigger a KYC review via [Identity Verification] → [Resubmit Verification]. After the system compares identity information, it allows directly updating the phone number without original number verification.

3. Setting Up an Emergency Contact
In addition to binding a backup phone number, Binance also offers an "Emergency Contact" feature. In [Security] → [Emergency Contact], you can add trusted contact emails and phone numbers.
Trigger conditions: When the account isinactive for at least 1 yearand the holder cannot be reached forat least 1 monthconsecutively, Binance will contact the emergency contact. During setup, you can also customize the inactivity duration (1/2/3/5 years) and contact period (1/2/3 months).
Emergency contacts can only assist in contacting the platform; they have no authority to operate the account or reset passwords. This is different from a "backup phone number."
What if the original number can still receive SMS but I want to add a backup number?
Binance currently does not directly support "binding two phone numbers simultaneously." You can add a second contact's phone number via the emergency contact feature, but the SMS verification channel can only bind one number. Simply set the new number as the sole binding.
Will changing the phone number affect assets in the account?
It will not directly affect assets, but after the change, the old number will no longer receive verification SMS. If the old number is still bound to Google Authenticator or other 2FA, changing the phone number does not affect those devices.
