After registering aBinanceapp account on an Android phone, the core of security initialization involves two steps: first, complete identity verification (KYC), then enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Only after these two steps is your account truly activated and secure.

Step 1: Complete Identity Verification (KYC)

After registering your account, the first thing to do is not to buy cryptocurrency, but to complete identity verification. Without passing verification, functions like deposits, trading, and withdrawals are unavailable.

In-app operation path:

  1. On the Binance app home page, tap the [Profile] icon in the top left corner.
  2. Find the [Identity Verification] or [Verification] entry and tap to enter.
  3. In the "Country/Region of Residence" dropdown, Chinese users should select [China].
  4. Upload photos of the front and back of your ID card as prompted (ensure they are clear, complete, and without glare).
  5. Complete facial recognition verification.

Review typically takeswithin 30 minutes. If verification fails after submission, check if the ID card photos are clear or if the lighting during facial recognition was sufficient.

Step 2: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

After passing verification,it is strongly recommended to enable two-factor authentication immediately. Passwords can be compromised through credential stuffing or phishing, but 2FA can block most attacks even if the password is leaked.

Binance supports multiple 2FA methods, withGoogle Authenticator or Binance Authenticator being the top recommendations. These are more secure than SMS verification (which can be vulnerable to SIM swapping) and are easy to set up.

Steps to bind an authenticator on an Android phone:

  1. Download the app: Search for "Google Authenticator" on the Google Play Store to download and install. If Google Play is inaccessible, you can also use Binance's officialBinance Authenticator, which has similar functionality and is integrated directly into the Binance ecosystem.
  2. Go to Binance security settings: Open the Binance app, tap [Profile] → [Account Security].
  3. Find Authenticator App: In the "Two-Factor Authentication" section, find [Authenticator App], tap [Manage] → [Enable].
  4. Scan to bind: Use Google Authenticator or Binance Authenticator to scan the QR code displayed on the Binance page. If it cannot be scanned, you can copy the 16-digit key and manually paste it into the authenticator app.
  5. Save the backup key: The system will display a set of backup keys.Be sure to take a screenshot or write them down and store them in a safe place. These are needed to recover 2FA if your phone is lost.
  6. Enter the verification code to confirm: Enter the 6-digit dynamic code generated by the authenticator app into the Binance page, and tap confirm to complete the binding.

Important note: When enabling Google Authenticator, it is recommended to select [Don't use an account] to skip linking it to your Google account, reducing the risk of accidental exposure of your Google account.

Step 3: Enable Anti-Phishing Code

After binding 2FA, it is advisable to also set up an "Anti-Phishing Code." In the future, any email from Binance that does not contain this custom code can be immediately identified as a phishing attempt and should not be opened.

Setup path: [Security] settings → Find [Anti-Phishing Code] → Enter a custom phrase (e.g., "MyCrypto2024") → Save.

Step 4 (Optional): Passkey

If your phone supports biometric authentication (fingerprint/face), it is recommended to bind aPasskeyin the security settings. For future logins, you can skip entering a password and simply use fingerprint or facial recognition for fast and secure access.

Setup path: [Security] → [Two-Factor Authentication] → [Passkey] → Follow the prompts to bind your device.

Common Failure Reasons

KYC verification failure

  • Photos are blurry, have glare, or do not show all four corners.
  • Insufficient lighting during facial recognition, or wearing accessories that obscure the face.
  • The submitted ID information does not match the information filled in.

2FA binding failure

  • The phone's system time is not synchronized, causing invalid codes. Check that the phone time is set to "Automatic synchronization."
  • Backup keys were not saved, making recovery impossible after changing phones.Be sure to save them during binding.

Cannot receive verification codes

  • Mainland Chinese phone numbers may not receive international SMS. It is recommended to register with an email address first.
  • Check your spam email or spam SMS folder.

How to Confirm the Results

After completing the above settings, log out and log back into your account. During login, the system will require a 2FA dynamic code. If you can access your account normally, the security initialization is complete.
