Once you register, you generally can't add a referral code afterward, but it's not completely impossible. The right approach is to first check your binding status, then see if you have any room for adjustment, rather than immediately re-registering or giving up.
Step 1: Check if a Referral Code Is Already Linked
Many users aren't sure whether they entered a referral code during registration. This step can save you a lot of unnecessary hassle.
What to do: Confirm whether your current account already has a referrer linked.
How to do it: Log in to the Binance app or website, click your profile icon (top right) to go to [Account Center] → find the [Referral] or [Invite] section → check if you see a "My Referrer" or "Referrer ID" field. If an ID is displayed, you're linked. If it shows "None" or is blank, you didn't enter a referral code during registration.
Completion criteria: Know clearly whether your account is "Linked to a referrer" or "Not linked".
Step 2: What to Do Based on Your Linking Status
Case A: Already linked to a referrer (showing an ID) Congratulations, you already have a referrer. Once the referral relationship is set on Binance, it cannot be changed or removed. If the code you used doesn't offer the highest commission rebate, you'll have to accept it—the system doesn't allow switching. Never listen to advice about "deleting and re-registering," as that could violate Binance's account rules.
Case B: Not linked to a referrer (showing "None" or blank) This means you skipped the referral code during registration. Normally, you can't add one after signing up. The only exception is the "Reactivation Plan" — if you meet both of the following conditions, you can add a referral code via a special link:
Your account has been registered for more than 90 days (the requirement was recently relaxed from 180 days to 90 days);
You haven't made any trades or used any Earn products on Binance for the past 90+ days.
Risk warning: If you don't qualify for the Reactivation Plan and see someone claiming they can add a referral code for a fee, block them immediately. Referral code linking is system-level; no customer support agent or third party can bypass it. Such promises are 100% scams.
How to verify: After binding, go back to the [Referral] page and check the "My Referrer" field. If an ID appears, the linking was successful.
Next steps: If you're confirmed as linked but the code isn't ideal, just keep using this account—you still get fee discounts, though the commission rebate might not be the highest. If you qualify for the Reactivation Plan, ask the inviter for the latest version of their exclusive recall link (old links only work for new users). Log in via that link, and the system will show a binding confirmation window.
