Where Do You Fill in Binance Recipient Type? Travel Rule Entry

Recipient type is not a separate menu. It is chosen in the questionnaire that pops up when you withdraw crypto. You start a withdrawal, enter the address and amount, and click submit. Then Binance shows a Travel Rule questionnaire. That pop-up is the entry you are looking for. This process does not affect whether your transaction succeeds, but if the information is wrong, your funds can get stuck.

Step 1: Find the questionnaire pop-up

How to do it: Go through the normal withdrawal flow — open the app or website, go to WalletSpot, and click "Withdraw". After entering the address, amount, and network, click "Submit" or "Withdraw". At that point the system shows a new page. It is not a redirect; it is a form displayed over the current page. The title usually says something like "Provide recipient information" or "Travel Rule".

Completion check: The page shows several required fields, such as "Recipient full name", "Country of residence", and "City". If you see these, you are in the right place.

Common mistake: Some people think this questionnaire is in "Settings" or "Address Management". It is not. It only appears during the withdrawal process. If you do not start a withdrawal, you will not see it.

Step 2: Choose "Recipient type" — two questions

After the questionnaire appears, you mainly need to answer two things. The page uses multiple-choice questions:

First question: Who are you sending funds to?

  • Option 1: Myself (my own other wallet or my own account on another exchange)

  • Option 2: Someone else (a third party, such as a friend, customer, or merchant)

Second question: Where are you sending funds?

  • Option 1: Exchange or platform (for example, the other person uses a centralized platform like Bybit or OKX)

  • Option 2: Private wallet (for example, a self-custody wallet like MetaMask or TP Wallet where you keep your own private keys)

The wording may be slightly different by region, but the core logic is the same.

Step 3: Fill in based on your real situation

Case A: Sending to your own account on another exchange Choose "Myself" → "Exchange or platform", then find the target platform name in the dropdown list. If it is not listed, choose "Others" and type it manually.

Case B: Sending to your own private wallet (such as TP Wallet or MetaMask) Choose "Myself" → "Private wallet". Then the system will ask you to complete a Satoshi test — send a very small amount to that address (for example 0.00000208 BNB) to prove the address is yours.

Case C: Sending to a friend or another third party Choose "Someone else", then continue based on whether the recipient is an exchange or a private wallet. Fill in the recipient's full name, country, and city. This case requires more complete information.

Completion check: Fill in all required fields and click "Submit" or "Confirm". If the information is complete, the page returns to the withdrawal confirmation screen and asks for two-factor verification (email/Google Authenticator code). Only after this step is your withdrawal truly submitted.

Risk warning: Wrong or misleading information

The Travel Rule is a global anti-money laundering requirement. Binance must collect recipient information before releasing a withdrawal. If the name you enter does not match the actual recipient, or you choose "Myself" but are actually sending to someone else, risk control may find it during a spot check. At minimum, the withdrawal may be frozen. At worst, it may trigger an account review. Some regions such as Australia and India may even require identity documents (PAN/national ID number). Missing information can cause the transfer to be paused.

How to check if you completed it

After you submit the questionnaire and complete two-factor verification, go to WalletWithdrawal History and check the status. If it shows "Processing" or "Completed", the questionnaire was submitted successfully and you just need to wait for the funds to arrive. If the status shows "To be filled in" or "Additional information needed", the questionnaire is not finished. Go back and submit it again.
