Binance Registration Phone Number Not Supported? Check Area Code and Region

If you see "phone number not supported" during registration, the number itself is usually not broken. Instead, the country/region (area code) you selected does not match the actual location of your phone number. This issue is not complicated. Follow the steps below and you should be able to find the cause.

Step 1: Check whether you selected "+86"

If you are using a mainland China phone number (numbers starting with 13, 15, or 18), you must select +86 (China) in the dropdown in front of the phone number field on the registration page.

Many people assume +86 is the default, but Binance's registration page may recommend another area code based on your IP address, such as +1 (United States) or +852 (Hong Kong). If the area code is wrong, the system will think you are using a mainland China phone number to register for a service in another country, and it will directly report "phone number not supported." At that point, the verification code cannot even be sent.

Step 2: Check whether the "region" option is wrong

Besides the area code dropdown in front of the phone number, the registration page usually has a separate "country of residence/region" option.

  • This option has nothing to do with which phone number you use. It determines which compliance terms apply to you.
  • If you are a mainland China ID holder, you should usually select "China" here.
  • If you select another region (such as Hong Kong or Singapore) but enter a mainland China phone number, the system may also block the registration because the region does not match.

Step 3: Check whether the phone number format is "stuck together"

This is the easiest to overlook, but also one of the most common mistakes. When filling in the phone number, enter only the phone number itself, not the area code.

If the system says "not supported" or "invalid format," it is usually because you accidentally added +86 in the input box, or wrote the area code and number together in a format like +86 13800138000. The system only recognizes the 11-digit number, and extra symbols are directly judged as invalid.

Step 4: If everything above is correct, it may be a network environment issue

If you are sure the area code is +86, the region is China, and the number format is correct, but the system still reports an error, it may be that your current network environment is restricted by the platform.

  • Are you using a VPN? If the VPN node is in a restricted region, the registration page may directly block the channel for receiving verification codes on mainland China phone numbers.
  • Tip: Disconnect the VPN and use local mobile data (4G/5G) to reopen the app or register on the website. A local IP plus a China area code is the cleanest combination.
