Here is the short answer: the remaining part stays on the order book and waits to be filled. It is not canceled automatically.

Why Partial Fills Happen

When you place a limit order, the system puts it into the order book to wait. If there are orders at your price but the quantity is not enough to fill your entire order, part of your order is filled first. The rest keeps waiting in line to be filled.

For example, you place a limit order to buy 1 BTC at 64,000. When the price drops to 64,000, there may be only 0.3 BTC of sell orders at that price. Your order fills 0.3 BTC first, and the remaining 0.7 BTC stays at 64,000.

How to Know If Your Order Was Partially Filled

Open the Binance app or website and go to the spot trading page. Find the order under "Open Orders" or "Order History." The status will show "Partially Filled" or "Partially Filled," and it will also show "Filled Quantity / Total Quantity."

You do not need to do anything. The unfilled part stays in the order book automatically and waits for the next seller at your limit price. If nobody ever sells at that price, the order can stay open until you cancel it manually, if it is a GTC order, or until it reaches its expiration time.

Two Exceptions: When the Remaining Part May Be Canceled

Case A: Price Range Protection Mechanism

Binance has a price range protection mechanism. If the market moves sharply, the order execution price is limited to a dynamically calculated price range. After your order is partially filled, if the limit price of the unfilled part falls outside this allowed range, the remaining part will be canceled automatically by the system.

Case B: Manual Cancellation or Modification

You can cancel the unfilled part directly under "Open Orders," or you can adjust the price and quantity and place a new order. When you modify a limit order, a new order ID is created, and the original remaining part is canceled.

What You Can Do Now

Go to "Open Orders" and check the "Filled Quantity" and "Total Quantity" of that order. If the filled quantity is less than the total quantity, it means there is still a remaining part waiting. Whether you keep waiting is entirely up to you.
