Binance and Interactive Brokers (IBKR) offer two completely different paths for buying US stocks. Stocks on Binance are settled with stablecoins and are essentially "tokenized securities" or direct stocks executed through partner brokers. Once you buy, your assets stay within the Binance ecosystem. Interactive Brokers is a traditional US broker. You buy real stocks, and your assets are held at IBKR under the US regulatory system. Which path you choose depends on whether you want the convenience of a "crypto-native, tradable 24/5" experience or "traditional broker-grade asset custody and transfer capability."

Buying US Stocks on Binance: Use Stablecoins, Minimum $5
Binance launched US stock trading in 2026, covering more than 7,000 US stocks and ETFs. The entry point is in the Binance App under Trade → Stocks. You can also buy directly with assets such as USDT, USDC, and BNB.
You need to understand the two holding forms first.
The first is direct stocks. Binance executes these through an "introducing broker + clearing broker" model: Nest Trading, a Binance-affiliated company regulated by Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), handles order referral, while Alpaca Securities, a licensed US broker, handles execution, clearing, and asset custody. Alpaca is an SEC-registered broker and a member of FINRA and SIPC. This means you are buying real US stocks held by a US broker.
The second is bStocks, tokenized securities issued by Binance. Each bStock is backed 1:1 by real US stocks held by a regulated custodian. bStocks are BEP-20 tokens on BNB Smart Chain. You can withdraw them to a compatible wallet for self-custody and use them in DeFi. Note: bStocks do not represent direct ownership of the underlying stock. Holding bStocks does not give you the rights of a direct shareholder in the listed company.
Fees and minimums. You can buy fractional shares with a minimum of $5. The platform fee per order is a minimum of $0.35. For trades above $350, the platform fee is 10 basis points (0.1%). One third-party analysis found that buying $1,000 of Nvidia stock on Binance costs about $1 including spread, similar to IBKR's fixed-rate commission of about $1, and far lower than Futu and Tiger Brokers.
Trading hours. Binance stocks support trading 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. bStocks trade 24/7 on the spot market.
How to buy. Open the Binance App → Trade → Stocks, select the asset, enter the amount or number of shares, and pay with your stablecoin or BNB balance. If you want to turn your position into an on-chain asset, you can enable the "Token Conversion" option. After the order fills, the stock will automatically convert to the corresponding bStock. You can also buy bStocks directly on the spot market, just like trading cryptocurrencies.
Buying US Stocks on Interactive Brokers: Traditional Broker, but Mainland China Account Opening Has Tightened
Interactive Brokers (IBKR) is a traditional US broker supporting stocks, options, futures, and other products across more than 90 global markets. US stocks and ETFs are among its core trading products.
Account opening requirements have changed. Starting August 2025, IBKR tightened account opening applications for mainland China residents: you need to provide proof of long-term residence or employment outside mainland China, such as overseas utility bills, rental contracts, and so on. Bills from Hong Kong are also acceptable. The previous path of using "proof of an existing overseas brokerage account" is no longer accepted. The IBKR app has also been removed from mainland China app stores.
If you have proof of living or working abroad, the account opening process is: download the IBKR app or visit the official website, fill out the application, choose the account type (individual accounts usually require filling out a W-8BEN form to declare non-US taxpayer status), submit identity and address proof, and wait for review.
Trading and holding. IBKR supports pre-market, after-hours, and overnight trading for US stocks. Overnight trading hours are 8:00 PM to 3:30 AM Eastern Time. You can place orders through the app or desktop platform, with order types including limit orders and market orders. A limit order lets you set the maximum price you are willing to pay for a buy or the minimum price for a sell, but it does not guarantee execution.
Fees. IBKR's US stock commissions are calculated per share. Under tiered pricing, the rate is roughly $0.0005 to $0.0035 per share, with a minimum charge. Compared with Binance, IBKR's fee structure may be more favorable for higher-volume users, but it is also more complex.
From Binance to IBKR: Transferring Holdings Basically Does Not Work
This is the most critical difference between the two paths.
US stocks on Binance, whether direct stocks or bStocks, cannot be transferred to IBKR via ACATS. ACATS is the standard transfer system between US brokers. IBKR's ACATS guide clearly states that incoming assets must come from a third-party broker, and the account name and tax ID must match exactly. Binance is not a US broker, and bStocks are not stocks held in a brokerage account, so they do not meet ACATS incoming transfer requirements.
If your goal is to "buy on Binance with stablecoins first and later transfer the stocks to IBKR," that path does not currently exist. To turn stock holdings on Binance into stocks in an IBKR account, the only option is to sell your Binance holdings, convert to USD or stablecoins, withdraw to a bank, deposit into IBKR, and buy again. This process involves selling on Binance, converting stablecoins to fiat, cross-border remittance, depositing into IBKR, and re-buying. Every step has costs and time delays.
Conversely, transferring from IBKR to Binance is also not possible. IBKR supports outgoing transfers via ACATS between US brokers or FOP for non-ACATS securities transfers. The destination must be another broker or bank. Transfers to cryptocurrency exchanges are not supported.
How to Choose
If your main assets are in the crypto ecosystem and you want to buy US stocks directly with stablecoins, trade anytime, and avoid banks and cross-border remittances, Binance is the smoother choice. The trade-off is that you hold stock exposure or tokenized certificates within the Binance ecosystem, not stocks in a traditional brokerage account, and you cannot transfer out via ACATS.
If you need traditional broker custody and transfer capability, or you have proof of living or working abroad and can complete IBKR account opening, IBKR is more suitable. You can hold real stocks, use ACATS to transfer between brokers, and access a more complete set of traditional financial tools. But the account opening threshold is higher, and it is disconnected from the crypto ecosystem.
There is no "buy first, transfer later" bridge between the two. If you buy US stocks on Binance, manage and exit according to Binance's rules. If you buy on IBKR, operate according to IBKR's rules. Do not expect to move stock holdings between the two platforms.
