Can I Change My Country After Selecting the Wrong Country During Binance Registration?
If you selected the wrong country during registration, whether you can change it depends on which stage you are at:
If you have only entered your phone number/email and have not yet submitted identity verification (KYC) → You can change it. Simply go back to the registration page and reselect the correct country.
If you have already submitted KYC verification → You can change it, but you must go through the official process and submit new proof of address documents.
The key difference is: The country selection step is locked once you enter the KYC verification process. The system clearly warns: "After clicking Continue, you will not be able to manually change your country of residence, so please do not make a mistake."
Step 1: Confirm Your Current Status
What to do: Log in to your Binance account and go to the [Identity Verification] page to check your verification status.
How to do it:
Open the Binance official website, hover over the profile icon in the top right corner → Click [Account] → Go to [Identity Verification].
Check your current status:
Not yet started: The page is still at the information entry stage → You can change it directly.
Verification in progress or Verified: The country information is locked. Proceed to Step 2 or Step 3 accordingly.
When it's done: You have confirmed whether you are in an "Unverified" or "Verified" state.
Step 2 (Unverified Status): Modify Directly on the Page
What to do: If you are still in the registration process and have not officially submitted KYC documents, simply reselect your country.
How to do it:
On the registration or KYC page, find the "Country/Region of Residence" dropdown menu.
Reselect the correct country and click [Continue].
Note: After clicking Continue, the country information will be locked and can no longer be modified by yourself.
When it's done: The page displays your newly selected country and you can continue filling in your KYC information.
Binance's official guide clearly states: "Here, after clicking Continue, you will not be able to manually change your country of residence, so please do not make a mistake." This pop-up warning usually appears twice to remind you to pay attention.
Step 3 (Verified Status): Update via the "Edit Address" Feature
What to do: If you have already completed KYC, you need to submit new proof of address through Binance's official process and wait for the review.
How to do it:
Log in to your Binance account → Hover over the profile icon → Click [Account] → Go to [Identity Verification].
Scroll down, find and click [Edit Address].
Select the Country/Region of Residence you want to update to, and click [Continue].
Fill in the new detailed address information and click [Continue].
Upload Proof of Address documents: Follow the instructions to upload compliant documents (such as bank statements, utility bills from the last 3 months, etc., which must include your full name and complete address).
Wait for Binance to review. Address proof review usually takes 1-2 business days. Once approved, you will receive a notification. You do not need to proactively contact customer support.
When it's done: The page prompts "Upload successful", and you wait for the review result notification.
⚠️ Why does changing the country reset KYC? Regulatory regulations differ from country to country. When you move to a new country, Binance needs to ensure that your account complies with the legal requirements of your new place of residence. This may involve resetting your identity verification to meet local requirements.
Common Reasons for Rejection
Non-compliant proof of address documents: Documents older than 3 months, unclear, incomplete information, or inconsistent with the newly filled-in address.
Attempting to change to an unsupported region: If the country/region you want to change to is not within Binance's service coverage, the application will be rejected.
Frequent modification requests within a short period: Submitting address proofs for different countries multiple times may trigger risk control.
Using a VPN to switch IP addresses after selecting the wrong country: Using a VPN to register in an unsupported country/region violates Binance's Terms of Service. If discovered, it may result in the account being frozen or permanently closed. The correct way to modify this is to go through the official address update process.
Risk Reminders
After changing your country/region of residence, you may lose access to certain product features (such as futures trading) or gain access to new products, depending on the local regulations of your new place of residence.
Binance does not allow users to open accounts in unsupported countries/regions via VPN. This violates the Terms of Service and may result in the account being frozen or permanently closed.
Notice for UK users: Due to significant changes related to the financial promotions regime, changing your country of residence to the United Kingdom is temporarily unavailable.
How to Confirm You Have Completed It Correctly
Log in to your Binance account → [Account] → [Identity Verification] page, and check whether the "Country/Region of Residence" now displays the correct information.
If you have submitted a proof of address, wait 1-2 business days and check the review status. Once approved, your country information has been successfully updated. If the review is rejected, check the specific reason in the notification, supplement or correct the materials as instructed, and resubmit.
