What to Do When Binance Bank Card Purchase Fails After Deduction

Your bank card has been debited, but the order on Binance shows as failed—don't panic. The money won't be lost; it's just stuck in the settlement channel. Typically, the bank has authorized the debit, but Binance did not receive the confirmation signal due to network timeout, risk control, or balance verification issues. The funds will be automatically refunded within a few hours to 30 days, without any need for you to actively retrieve them.

Prerequisite: Confirm the Real Order Status First

Don't assume the transaction is complete just because you received an SMS saying "deduction successful." That SMS only indicates the bank has frozen that amount; it does not mean Binance has received and confirmed the funds.

Log in to the Binance app or website, go to [Wallet] - [Fiat and Spot] or [Funding Wallet], find the fiat currency you used for the purchase (e.g., USD, EUR), and check the transaction history. If the status shows "Failed," it means the order was indeed not completed.

Steps

Step 1: Check if the money has been returned to your account

According to Binance's official explanation, when a bank card purchase fails, the deducted amount will be automatically returned to your fiat wallet.

  1. Log in to the Binance app and tap [Wallet] at the bottom.

  2. Find the fiat currency you used (e.g., USD), tap to view [Transaction History].

  3. Look at the most recent record—if it shows "Failed" and the amount matches your deduction, the money has already been refunded.

  4. When this step is done: Confirm in the transaction history that the failed order is marked as "Failed," and your account balance has been restored.

Step 2: What to do if the money hasn't been returned

If the transaction history indeed shows "Failed" but the account balance hasn't changed, or the order cannot be found in the records at all:

  1. Contact Binance customer support: Open the app, tap [Support] in the bottom right corner, then [Chat with Support], and select the relevant option such as "Fiat Deposit Not Credited" or "Fiat Deposit Appeal."

  2. Prepare the following information: a screenshot of the deduction, transaction time, deducted amount, and the last four digits of your bank card.

  3. When this step is done: Customer support has confirmed receipt of your appeal and provided a case number.

Step 3: Handling failures due to insufficient balance (Binance Card scenario)

If you are using a Binance Card, the failure may be due to insufficient balance. The Binance Card deducts funds according to the order of currencies you set in "Payment Priority." If your preferred currency balance is insufficient and the backup currencies also fall short, the transaction will be declined.

In this case, the charge will be refunded to your Funding Wallet in USDC. Go back and check your account balance, make sure at least one of the priority currencies has enough funds to cover the amount, then try again.

Common Reasons for Failure

  • Bank risk control interception: The bank's risk control rules may be sensitive to crypto transactions, leading to the transaction being rejected. If multiple attempts fail continuously, it is advisable to wait a while before trying again, or contact your bank to confirm whether the card supports such transactions.

  • Payment timeout: The communication timeout between the merchant and the bank causes the failure. The deducted amount will be automatically refunded within about 30 days.

How to Confirm the Issue Is Resolved

After the funds are returned, you will see the failed order in your fiat wallet's transaction history, and the available balance will be restored. Once confirmed, you can reinitiate the purchase—if the amount is large, it is recommended to deposit funds into your fiat wallet first and then buy with the balance, rather than using multiple card payments that may trigger the bank's risk controls.
