Binance Convert Limit Order: Can You Use Your Funds After Placing an Order?

After placing an order, these funds cannot be used as usual. Once a Convert limit order is submitted, the assets used for the swap are locked. Until the order is filled, canceled, or expires, you cannot transfer them out, withdraw them, or use them for other trades. However, Binance offers a workaround: when placing the order, you can choose to deposit the assets into a Flexible Simple Earn product so they continue to earn interest while waiting. But earning interest does not mean they are usable, and there is still a possibility of failure between redemption and order execution.

Where funds are locked depends on your choice when placing the order

After submitting a Binance Convert limit order, there are two ways assets are handled, corresponding to different "availability" states:

Without the earn option selected: The order assets are directly frozen in your Spot Wallet. These assets earn no yield while frozen and cannot be used for any other operations. They are released only after the order is filled, canceled, or expires.

With the Flexible Simple Earn option selected: The order assets are subscribed to a Flexible Simple Earn product and generate yield while waiting to be filled. The assets are nominally in your Earn Wallet, not in your spot balance, and likewise cannot be directly used for spot trading or withdrawal. To use this money, you need to redeem it first, but redemption itself introduces new problems.

An older version of the Convert guide had a more direct statement: after placing a limit order, the order assets are locked for the selected duration. The "lock-up" nature of limit orders has not changed; what has changed is where they are locked and whether they earn interest.

Choosing the earn option adds an extra layer of fill failure risk

The Simple Earn option looks like "locking up funds while still earning some interest," but it introduces a failure path that ordinary freezing does not have: if the assets cannot be redeemed from Earn in time when the limit price is triggered, the order will not be filled.

The official rules state clearly: if the assets have already been redeemed or are unavailable when the limit order is triggered, the system will automatically cancel the order, and the limit order will not execute. Scenarios where redemption may be delayed include extreme market conditions, network interruptions, and large numbers of users redeeming at the same time. This means your limit price may be reached, but you miss the fill because the money was still in Earn and did not come out in time.

Also, canceling a Convert limit order does not automatically redeem the assets from Earn. You need to go to the Simple Earn product separately and redeem manually, otherwise the money will continue to stay in your Earn Wallet.

My judgment is this: if your purpose in setting a limit order is to maximize the chance of execution, not selecting the earn option is safer. Funds frozen in the Spot Wallet earn no interest, but when the trigger hits, the assets are right there, with no redemption delay issue. If you are not sensitive to fill timing and are just placing a distant price to wait, you can select the earn option, but remember to redeem manually after canceling the order.

How to check fund status and cancel orders

Convert limit orders do not appear in the spot order book. The entry point for viewing and canceling is on the Convert page or in Orders > Open Orders, where you can find the corresponding Convert limit order record. After canceling, if the assets are frozen in the Spot Wallet, they will be released directly; if they are in Simple Earn, you need to go to the Earn Wallet and redeem them.

Cancellation itself is free and does not affect any Earn yield already generated (if any). But the timing of cancellation determines when funds become available again: cancellation of spot-frozen assets releases them immediately, while cancellation of assets in Earn requires an extra redemption step.

Reaching the limit price may still not fill, and that is separate from fund locking

Funds being locked does not guarantee you will get the coins. Binance officially reminds users repeatedly that the execution of a Convert limit order depends on quotes, market depth, and liquidity. Even if the market price momentarily touches your limit price, the order may not execute. This is a mechanism limitation of limit orders themselves and has nothing to do with where the assets are locked. Do not interpret "placing an order locked my money" as "queuing up waiting to be filled." It is only a trigger condition, not a fill guarantee.

What you should do now

Go to the Convert page or Open Orders and find that limit order. Confirm two things: whether the assets are currently frozen in Spot or in Simple Earn, and the order's expiration time (set when placing the order, ranging from 1 day to 30 days). If you may need this money soon, canceling the order is the only way to return the funds to a usable state; if the assets are in Earn, do not forget to redeem manually after canceling.
