How to Buy OKX Stock Tokens? Checking Share Count vs Withdrawal Amount

When you buy stock tokens on OKX, you buy them in "shares," but when you withdraw, they are sent out in "tokens." It is normal for these two numbers to be different. During withdrawal, the system uses a multiplier (M) to convert your shares back into the on-chain token amount. If you do not check this conversion, you may think you received too little or that the on-chain amount does not match.

You Buy in "Shares," Not "Tokens"

OKX stock tokens are called "Unified Tokenized Stocks" (UTS). They are displayed and traded in shares on the platform, with an uppercase X added before the ticker, such as XAAPL or XTSLA. When you place an order, you enter the number of shares, priced in USDT. Trading is available 24/7. When the US stock market is closed, the price is based on the latest closing price plus an estimate.

These tokens do not represent real stock ownership. They do not include voting rights, dividends, or other shareholder rights. They are on-chain tokens that track the price performance of stocks and ETFs, issued by a third party (currently Ondo/xStocks).

Why the Withdrawal Amount Differs from Your Share Balance

The key is the multiplier (M). On-chain tokens are counted in "tokens," while OKX internally counts in "shares." The conversion between the two is:

Shares = Token Amount × Multiplier (M)

For withdrawals, the reverse applies: Token Amount = Shares ÷ M.

The multiplier is not fixed. Corporate actions (like dividends or stock splits) adjust it—dividends raise the multiplier, while splits are adjusted accordingly. This is why if you deposit 10 AAPLx tokens, you might see about 10.0266 XAAPL shares in your account (assuming M=1.00266). The total value stays the same; only the unit changes.

For withdrawals, the system uses the multiplier effective at the time of your withdrawal request. If you withdraw during a corporate action window, the rules are more specific: withdrawals submitted before the corporate action and not canceled are processed with the old multiplier (because the token amount was fixed at submission), while withdrawals canceled after the corporate action are refunded using the new multiplier.

How to verify your withdrawal amount: On the withdrawal page, the system usually shows the current applicable multiplier. Divide your share amount by this multiplier to get the on-chain token amount that will be sent. The withdrawal record will also show the conversion details.

Withdrawal Steps and Status Tracking

The withdrawal itself follows OKX's standard on-chain withdrawal process:

  1. Go to Assets → Withdraw, and select the stock token you want to withdraw (e.g., XAAPL).

  2. Enter the receiving address and network. UTS currently supports deposits and withdrawals of xStocks tokens via Solana and X Layer networks. Make sure your receiving wallet supports the corresponding network.

  3. Enter the number of shares you want to withdraw. The system will display the converted on-chain token amount.

  4. Confirm and submit.

After submission, the withdrawal status goes through four stages: [Withdrawal Request] → [Pending] → [Withdrawing] → [Transferred Out].

  • Withdrawal Request / Pending: Still in queue. You can cancel within 1 minute without losing funds.

  • Withdrawing: Already on-chain, waiting for miner confirmation. Cannot be canceled.

  • Transferred Out: Assets have left OKX. You need to check your receiving wallet or platform to confirm arrival. OKX cannot reverse or speed up the transaction.

To view withdrawal records: On the App, go to Assets → Withdraw → Withdraw Crypto → "..." in the top right corner → Withdrawal Records (last 90 days). On the Web, go to Asset Management → Withdraw → All Withdrawal Records (last 1 year).

Conditions That Can Affect Your Withdrawal

Corporate action window. If you withdraw during a dividend or stock split processing window, deposits will be queued until the corporate action is completed and then credited using the new multiplier. Withdrawals will have their token amount fixed using the multiplier at the time of submission. Simply put: the multiplier is locked at the moment you submit the withdrawal. Any later changes to the multiplier will not affect that transaction.

Reconciliation checks. OKX performs reconciliation for every deposit and withdrawal. If there is a discrepancy between on-chain token holdings and user share balances, withdrawals will be paused until the discrepancy is resolved. In this case, you can only wait. Repeated submissions will not bypass it.

Multiple issuers. If OKX supports multiple issuers, the tokens you receive when withdrawing may not be from the same issuer as the ones you originally deposited. It depends on which issuer is available at the time of your withdrawal request. The value is equivalent, but the token contract may be different.

Regional restrictions. UTS is not registered under US securities laws and is not offered to US persons or within the United States. Whether you can use it depends on what is actually shown in your OKX account.

Quick Takeaway

You buy in "shares" and withdraw in "tokens." Before withdrawing, check the current multiplier. Divide your share amount by the multiplier to get the on-chain amount that will be sent out. If the withdrawal amount does not match your expectation, first check the multiplier conversion, then confirm whether you hit a corporate action window or a reconciliation pause. Do not submit repeatedly.
