How Do New OKX Accounts Enter Simulated Trading?
The quickest way for new accounts to access simulated trading: on the App, tap the grid icon in the top-left corner of the homepage and choose Simulated Trading; on the Web, click Trading in the top navigation bar and select Simulated Trading from the dropdown. No extra registration is needed—just log into your main account and switch.
Prerequisites
Before using simulated trading, confirm these two points:
Registered account: Simulated trading is available without completing identity verification (KYC). You can access it as soon as your account is created.
Logged in status: Make sure you are logged into your OKX account. Simulated trading is an independent mode under the main account—no separate registration is required.
Steps
Case A: Using the Mobile App
Open the OKX App, log in, and go to the homepage.
Tap the grid icon in the top-left corner (in some versions it may be labeled "All Services").
In the pop-up menu, find and tap Simulated Trading.
After entering, a "Paper Trading" badge will appear in the top-left corner of the screen, distinguishing simulated trading from the live environment.
Tap the Trade button at the bottom to choose a symbol and start trading.
Completion check: You have successfully entered the simulated trading page and can see the total asset valuation, coin list, and trading buttons. A "Paper Trading" indicator is visible in the top-left corner.
Case B: Using the Web Platform
Go to the OKX official website and log into your account.
Locate the Trading button in the top navigation bar and hover or click on it.
In the dropdown menu, directly select Simulated Trading.
After the page loads, the "Paper Trading" badge will appear in the top-left corner, indicating you are in the simulated environment.
In the trading panel on the right, select a trading pair (e.g., BTC/USDT), set the price and amount, and click Buy or Sell to place an order.
Completion check: The simulated trading interface loads successfully, showing the simulated balance (typically containing virtual funds such as 1 BTC, 1 ETH, 5,000 USDT) and a "Paper Trading" indicator in the top-left corner.
Simulated trading uses virtual funds. The initial amounts usually include 1 BTC, 1 ETH, 5,000 USDT, etc., and do not affect your real assets. Prices in the simulated mode are derived from the live market but may have slight delays; there can be price differences from the live market, so the two should not be used as cross-references.
Additional Operations
What if I run out of simulated funds?
On the simulated trading page, tap Assets, find the Reset button next to the corresponding coin, and click it to restore the initial virtual funds. You can reset as many times as you like; this does not affect your trading history.
How do I switch back to live trading?
App: Tap Return to Live in the upper-right corner of the page.
Web: Click Switch to Live Trading or Live Trading at the bottom or in the upper-right corner.
Common Failure Reasons
Can't find the simulated trading entry: In some App versions the grid icon position varies slightly; check the "All Services" menu or the bottom navigation bar. On Web, make sure you are looking under the Trading dropdown, not in the account center.
Page still shows real balance: Verify that the "Paper Trading" badge is visible in the top-left corner. If the amount displayed matches your real balance, you are still in the live environment and need to switch back to simulated trading.
Confirmation of Completion
Successfully place an order (buy or sell any coin) on the simulated trading page. The order status appears as "Filled" or "Pending", and the simulated balance changes accordingly. This confirms that you have correctly entered and are using the simulated trading feature.
