To register for OKX with your email, prepare an email address that can receive messages and a mobile phone that can receive SMS codes. OKX requires binding both a phone number and an email during registration – you cannot skip either. The process works on the website or in the app. The core steps are: enter email → verify email → bind phone → verify phone → set password.

1. What you need before registering

Goal: Make sure you have everything ready to avoid interruptions.

How to prepare:

  • Email: Use a personal email like QQ Mail, 163 Mail, Outlook, or Gmail. Make sure you can receive messages.

  • Phone number: A mobile number under your name that can receive SMS verification codes. Each phone number and email can only register one OKX account.

  • ID document: You will need an identity card or passport for identity verification (KYC) after registration.

  • Device: A smartphone or computer with a stable internet connection.

Checkpoint: Your email inbox is accessible, and your phone can receive SMS codes.

You must be at least 18 years old to pass identity verification. Without completing verification, you cannot buy/sell crypto, deposit/withdraw, or transfer funds.

2. Go to the official site or download the app and start registration

Goal: Open the registration page and enter your information.

How to do it:

  • Website: Visit the OKX official website at okx.com, click [Sign Up / Log In] in the top right, then [Sign Up Now].

  • App: Search for "OKX" in the App Store or Google Play to download the official app. Open it and tap [Sign Up].

Checkpoint: You see the registration form with an email input field.

Always use official channels to avoid phishing sites or fake apps.

3. Enter your email and receive the verification code

Goal: Enter your email address, get the verification code, and submit it.

How to do it:

  1. On the registration page, select your country/region and agree to the terms of service and privacy policy.

  2. Enter your email address in the field provided.

  3. If you have an invitation code, fill it in (optional).

  4. Click [Sign Up] or [Next]; OKX will send a 6-digit verification code to your email.

  5. Log into your email, find the code (check spam if not in inbox), and enter it on the page. The code expires in 10 minutes.

Checkpoint: The email verification code is accepted, and you proceed to the next step.

Common issues:

  • No code received: Check your spam folder; make sure you typed the email address correctly; wait 1-2 minutes and try again.

  • Email already registered: The email is tied to another OKX account – use a different email.

4. Bind your phone number and receive the SMS verification code

Goal: Enter your phone number, get the SMS code, and verify it.

How to do it:

  1. Select the country code for your phone (e.g., +86 for mainland China).

  2. Enter your mobile number and tap [Next] or [Verify Now].

  3. OKX sends a 6-digit SMS code (valid for 10 minutes).

  4. Enter the SMS code.

Checkpoint: The SMS verification code is accepted, and the password setup page appears.

OKX's help center clearly states that both a phone number and an email must be bound during registration – you cannot choose one over the other.

5. Set your password and finish registration

Goal: Create a strong login password.

How to do it:

  • Use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols. At least 8 characters.

  • Double-check your password and tap [Done] or [Next].

  • You'll see a registration success message.

Checkpoint: The page confirms successful registration and takes you to your account dashboard.

Important reminders:

  • Memorise your password and never share it. OKX support will never ask for your password.

  • We strongly recommend completing identity verification (KYC) right away – otherwise you cannot trade, deposit, or withdraw.

How do you know your email registration was successful?

Log into OKX. If you see your account ID and asset balance (zero is normal) and can access the identity verification page, your registration is complete. The next step is to complete KYC and set up Google Authenticator (2FA) to secure your account.
