Why Can't I Use My OKX Account After Successful Registration?
Successful registration doesn't guarantee full access. The most common reason is incomplete KYC identity verification or a rejected review. Core functions like trading, deposits, withdrawals, and C2C trading all require the corresponding identity verification to be completed before they are unlocked. Another common scenario is that users in certain regions receive a direct system prompt that the product is not supported in their current location after registration.
Check Identity Verification Status First
Confirm whether your KYC verification is complete. Here's how:
- Log in to the OKX App, tap the nine-dot menu icon in the top left corner → [Account Settings] → [Profile] → [Identity Verification].
- Check the current verification status.
Solutions for each status:
- Status shows "Unverified" or "Pending Review": You haven't completed verification or your submitted documents are still under review. Unverified accounts cannot deposit, withdraw, trade, or use C2C services. Functions will only be unlocked after verification is completed.
- Status shows "Rejected": Your verification application was returned. The page or your email will indicate the reason, such as blurry or cropped documents, facial recognition failure, documents with less than 60 days of validity, or mismatched document information. Revise and resubmit based on the prompts.
- Status shows "Verified": Verification is complete and your account should be usable. If features are still restricted, continue troubleshooting the scenarios below.
Note: OKX requires both a phone number and an email to be bound during registration; both are mandatory. If you only bound one, add the other first, or some features may remain restricted.
Check if the Account Is Restricted or Under Risk Control
If KYC is complete but features are still limited, it is most likely that the platform's risk control mechanism has been triggered. Log in to OKX and look for red or yellow security alerts on the page to confirm the status. Common reasons for account restrictions include:
- The risk control system detected abnormal or suspicious activity in the account.
- The platform requires additional information to continue providing services.
- The account is undergoing a routine compliance review.
During the restriction period, you can usually still log in and view your balance, but core functions like trading and withdrawals may be suspended. If the account is permanently suspended, it is generally due to a violation of the terms of service—such as registering multiple accounts or using someone else's identity—in which case trading functions are unavailable and you can only withdraw remaining crypto assets to an external wallet within a specified timeframe.
If there are no risk alerts or restriction notices, you can rule out risk control issues.
Check Regional Restrictions
Users in certain regions may be blocked by system compliance measures after registration and cannot use services normally:
- If the country/region of residence selected during registration is Hong Kong, the system will directly prompt: "OKX exchange products are currently not supported in your region." The platform has ceased virtual asset trading services in Hong Kong since May 2024.
- This is not a case of KYC failure; it stems from regional compliance policies and related services cannot be used.
If no corresponding regional restriction prompt appears, you can rule out this problem.
Troubleshoot App/Network Issues
If your account status is completely normal but functions still cannot be used, check for device or network faults:
- Clear cache: On Android, go to Settings → App Management → OKX → Clear Cache; on iOS, sign out and log back in.
- Check the version: Go to the official app store to make sure the OKX App is the latest version. Older versions may have compatibility issues that cause malfunctions.
- Switch network: Try switching from WiFi to mobile data or vice versa to rule out network problems.
After completing these steps, you can eliminate device and network technical issues.
Common causes of verification failure:
- KYC materials do not match registration information—the name entered during registration doesn't match the identity document, causing rejection.
- Identity information is already tied to another account. The platform allows only one verified account per identity; duplication results in immediate rejection.
- Device or network anomalies. Some feature failures may be caused by an outdated app version, accumulated cache, or an unstable network.
Related usage notes:
- The platform explicitly prohibits users from registering multiple accounts. Backend checks are performed regularly; if found, only one compliant account is retained, and the others will be restricted.
- Withdrawal limits are directly tied to KYC levels. Completing a higher level of identity verification unlocks higher withdrawal limits.
A method to confirm your account is usable: Log in to the OKX App and go to the [Identity Verification] page. If the status shows "Verified," KYC has passed. You can test functionality with a small transaction. If still restricted and a regional prompt appears, the corresponding region is temporarily unsupported, and there is no need to resubmit verification materials.
