OKX Passkey Stored in Old iCloud: How to Migrate After Changing Apple ID?

If you've changed your Apple ID, the OKX passkey previously tied to your old iCloud account will no longer work. Apple's passkey is bound to the Apple ID you were logged into when you created it – changing accounts prevents direct syncing. You must reset or rebind through the OKX App to use it under the new account.

Here are the steps to migrate your passkey.

Step 1: Check if the passkey is synced under your current Apple ID

After switching accounts, the most direct approach is to see if the old passkey is still present.

What to do: Open the Passwords app on your iPhone and see if the passkey followed your Apple ID.

How to do it:

  • In iOS, passkeys are stored in iCloud by default and bound to the Apple ID you used when creating them.

  • Open the built-in Passwords app (iOS 18 and above), find the "Passkeys" category, and check for an OKX entry.

  • If you don't see an OKX record, the old passkey wasn't synced to the new iCloud – go to Step 2.

  • If an OKX passkey record does appear, it has synced; you can try logging in with the passkey. If login fails, you'll still need to reset.

Completion check: You've confirmed whether a valid OKX passkey exists under the new Apple ID.

Step 2: Reset or remove the old passkey inside the OKX App

If the old passkey is useless, clear it out first, then rebind.

What to do: Delete or reset the broken passkey in OKX's security settings.

How to do it:

  • Open the OKX App, go to MenuProfileSecurity settings, and find Passkey.

  • Case A (only one passkey left): The system will force a reset rather than letting you delete it. A reset creates a new passkey and invalidates the old one.

  • Case B (multiple passkeys): You can directly Remove the broken passkey. Before the removal, you'll need to verify your identity via another method (e.g., email, phone).

  • Resetting or deleting a passkey triggers a 24-hour withdrawal and C2C sell restriction – a standard risk control measure. Be aware of this impact in advance.

Completion check: You've successfully deleted the invalid passkey in security settings, or initiated a reset; the remaining passkey count is updated.

Common failure reason: Many people don't realize that changing an Apple ID breaks passkeys. They try to log in on a new device and get a "no passkey found on this device" error. Don't panic; just follow these steps.

Step 3: Create a new passkey with your new Apple ID

Once the old passkey is cleaned up, you can rebind under the new account.

What to do: Create a brand-new OKX passkey while logged into your new Apple ID.

How to do it:

  • In OKX, go to Security settingsPasskey and select Enable or Create a new passkey.

  • The system will guide you through the creation. Make sure your phone is signed in to the new iCloud account so the new passkey is automatically backed up there.

  • During setup, you'll be asked to use Face ID or Touch ID to complete the process.

Completion check: The new passkey is created, and you can see a new OKX record in the Passkeys list of the Passwords app.

How to confirm the migration was successful?

After creating the new passkey, do a live test:

  1. Log out of the OKX App and log back in, choosing the "Passkey" option to verify that you can enter normally.

  2. If login succeeds, the migration is complete. Remember that because a passkey was reset or removed, the account will have a 24-hour withdrawal restriction – this is a normal risk-control state.

If you still can't find the passkey record in the Passwords app, try updating your phone to iOS 18 or later to ensure the Passwords app has full functionality.
