OKX Passkey Not Working on New Phone? Sync & Rebind Troubleshooting

When your OKX Passkey stops working after you switch phones, the main reason is that Passkey syncing relies on you being logged into the same cloud service account (iCloud/Google) and having the old device act as an authorization source. This rule applies to your OKX trading account, DEX wallet, and Pay account.

After changing phones, check the following four areas in the Security Center.

Step 1: Make sure the new phone's cloud account matches the old device

Check whether the new phone is logged into the same iCloud or Google account that was used when you created the Passkey. In your phone's system settings, look at the current cloud account, compare it with the old device, and confirm they are the same. Also make sure Passkey syncing is turned on.

Risk notice: The OKX exchange Passkey and the Pay account Passkey are two separate systems. Even if your exchange Passkey is restored through cloud sync, your Pay account may need to be reset separately or authorized by scanning a QR code on the old device.

Step 2: Troubleshoot the "No passkey found" pop-up

If the system says "No passkey found" it means the new device doesn't have a stored Passkey that matches.

Case A: Using the same cloud account but not synced If cloud sync hasn't worked, follow the on-screen instructions and scan the QR code on the new device using the old device to complete authorization. This requires both devices to support Bluetooth and meet system version requirements (iOS 18 or later).

Case B: Cannot scan with the old device or the old device is lost In this case, you need to use the "passkey reset" process. Find the passkey settings in the Security Center and choose Reset. The system will send a verification link to your bound email. After verification you can delete the old key and create a new one. Note: After resetting, the Passkey on the old device will automatically become invalid.

Step 3: Check if your device's OS and app version are supported

Passkey has clear system version requirements. If these aren't met, syncing will fail.

  • iOS: Upgrade to iOS 18 or later and make sure the built-in "Passwords" app hasn't been accidentally deleted.

  • Android: Requires Android 14+ and full access to Google services.

Step 4: Check if you've hit the Passkey limit

One OKX account can have up to 10 Passkeys. If you've reached the limit, go to the "Passkey Management Center", delete any unused old keys, and then create a new one.

Common failure reasons

The most common pitfall is logging into a different Apple ID or Google account when switching phones, making cloud backup mismatched. Another common issue: the old device was wiped or sold without first setting up cloud sync, so you can't scan to authorize and can only use the email reset process.

Next steps

If you still have your old phone, make sure Bluetooth is on, and when setting up a new Passkey, follow the prompts to scan the old phone's QR code to complete authorization. If the old phone is no longer available, go directly to the Security Center's "Passkey reset", verify through your bound email, and create a new one. After the reset is successful, all DEX features are immediately available with no waiting period.
