OKX Passkey error 50162 almost always means your Android device cannot reach Google Play Services or has a version conflict. This is not an OKX platform issue; it happens because your Android environment cannot communicate with Google services when Passkey is called.

Step 1: Check Android system basics

First, make sure your Android device meets the minimum requirements for Passkey.

  • What to do: Check your Android version and Google Play Services status.

  • How to do it:

    1. Go to SettingsAbout phone and confirm Android version is 7.0 or later. Older versions do not support Passkey.

    2. Make sure Google Play Services is installed and up to date. Passkey relies heavily on Google Play Services.

    3. If you have a Chinese-market Android phone without pre-installed Google services, install the Google Services Framework first and make sure you can sign in to a Google account.

  • Success criteria: Android version ≥ 7.0 and Google Play Services works normally.

Step 2: Check network and security settings

Error 50162 often appears when the Google Services check gets stuck — usually due to network issues or security software blocking the connection.

  • What to do: Adjust your current network environment and check permission settings.

  • How to do it:

    1. Temporarily adjust your network: If you are using a proxy or VPN, turn it off and try creating a Passkey again.

    2. Check permissions: Go to SettingsApps → find the OKX app, and make sure Camera and Storage permissions are turned on (needed for scanning and storing verification data).

  • Success criteria: After making these changes, the error no longer appears, or you can move forward with the binding process.

Common causes of failure

Many users see this error after reinstalling the OKX app. Due to Android security design, uninstalling the app automatically clears Passkey and other secure data. If the error appears after a reinstall, it is likely that leftover old key data conflicts with the new installation. In that case, try going to the Passkey section in OKX security settings, delete any old records, and then bind again.

How to verify the fix

After adjusting your environment, open the Passkey page in the OKX Security Center, and tap "Enable" or "Add". If you can successfully enter the fingerprint or face verification step and complete the binding, the problem is solved. During binding, the system will ask you to "use this device as a passkey" — follow the prompt to finish biometric verification.

Next steps

The bound Passkey is stored only in the secure area of your current phone. If you switch to a new Android phone or reset your device, you need to reset your Passkey through the OKX Security Center. After resetting, withdrawal and C2C selling functions will be restricted for 24 hours. It is a good idea to manually name your passkey on the Passkey page (e.g., "My Xiaomi 13") so you can easily tell which device each key belongs to.
