The settlement targets are completely different
Outcomes settles based on the "event" itself, covering categories such as sports, politics, finance, and culture. Results are confirmed through decentralized oracles (UMA) or third-party data providers. For example, "Who will win the 2026 World Cup?" is ultimately determined by the official tournament result.
Event contract settlement is based on "asset price". Currently it mainly focuses on the prices of crypto assets such as BTC, ETH, and SOL, determined by the average of the OKX index price. For example, "Will BTC be above 85,000 USDT in 15 minutes?" At expiry, the system automatically collects OKX index price data to calculate the settlement price.
Nature of funds: points or USDT
Outcomes xp is OKX Campaign Points. You can obtain it through signing up, checking in, completing tasks, and other methods. It has no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be transferred between accounts, and will be reset to zero after the season ends.
Event Contracts use USDT for trading. Each share has a face value of 1 USDT. When buying, an equal amount of USDT is frozen as margin. If you are correct, each share is redeemed for 1 USDT (after deducting the delivery fee). If you are wrong, the share becomes zero.
Settlement rules
Outcomes: If you are correct, each share is settled at 1 xp. If you are wrong, you incur an xp loss. Yes + No price = 1.00 xp. All trades are matched between users, and the platform does not hold positions.
Event Contracts: If you are correct, each share is redeemed for 1 USDT (after deducting the delivery fee). If you are wrong, the share becomes zero and no delivery fee is charged. It uses a full margin model, no leverage, no liquidation risk, and the maximum loss equals the amount you paid when buying.
Can you exit early?
Both support selling shares on the order book before expiry to lock in profits or stop losses early.
The difference is: selling early in Outcomes releases xp, while selling early in Event Contracts releases USDT.
Geographic restrictions
Both Outcomes and Event Contracts have clear geographic restrictions and are not available in all regions. For example, Event Contracts are currently open to eligible users in Asia, the CIS region, and Latin America. Outcomes depends on the regional support list on the activity page.

How to choose
If you want to experience prediction markets at zero cost without investing any real funds, Outcomes is the only choice. You spend time doing tasks to earn xp, and then use xp to participate in predictions. The trade-off is that xp has no monetary value, resets to zero after the season ends, and cannot be withdrawn.
If you have a view on the short-term price direction of BTC/ETH and want to trade with real funds, Event Contracts are more direct. Fixed cost, fixed potential return, no leverage, no liquidation, and the maximum loss is the USDT you invest. The trade-off is that you need to bear the risk of losing real funds.
The positioning of the two does not overlap: one uses points to exchange for participation, and the other uses funds to exchange for returns. First confirm which cost you can accept, then decide which one to use.
