Prerequisites
- Logged into your OKX account.
- Confirm there are existing borrow liabilities (check under Assets → Account Balances).
- Know your current trading mode (Spot mode / Contract mode / Cross-margin mode).
Entry 1: Spot Mode
This is the most direct entry. Go to Assets → Account Balances, check the borrowed coin and amount. Click the Repay button below that coin to enter the repayment page.
If the available balance of that coin is insufficient, the platform will prompt you to sell other account assets to repay. Select the assets to sell and submit.
Completion standard: Enter the repayment page; the system shows current liability balance and the repayable amount.
Entry 2: Contract Mode or Cross-Margin Mode
In these modes, you usually don't need to manually trigger one-click repay after borrowing. As long as you close the position, the system will automatically repay the borrowed amount and interest.
How to do it: Directly close the corresponding leveraged position, and the system will automatically settle the liability. After closing, check under Assets whether the liability has cleared.
If residual debt remains after closing (e.g., due to precision issues or partial close not fully settled), manual processing is needed. In cross-margin mode, you need to buy the corresponding coin in spot trading to clear the debt. You must also clear all debt before switching trading modes.
Completion standard: After closing, the coin's liability shows 0 under Assets.
Repayment in One-Click Borrow Mode
If using the one-click borrow isolated mode, the repay entry is within the position operation. In manual mode, you need to switch to the Repay tab in the Borrow interface, enter the amount, and confirm. In automatic mode, the system will automatically repay when closing the position.
Completion standard: Liability clears in the position list, margin is released.
How to Check Residual Debt
After closing or repaying, don't just look at the position interface; go to Assets → Account Balances to verify the liability details for each coin.
OKX's reserve snapshot includes the purchase assets and borrow liabilities of the leverage position, while the "My Portfolio" page only shows margin and unrealized PnL coin equity. This means the balance you usually see may not include liabilities; you must enter Account Balances or the Leverage Account page to see the full liability.
Query steps:
- Go to Assets → Account Balances.
- Check coin by coin whether the "Liabilities" field shows a positive number.
- If residual debt exists, click the Repay button on the right side of that coin to settle.
Risk Reminder
In cross-margin mode, if liabilities are generated, you must clear them before switching trading modes. Additionally, the "auto conversion" function of one-click repay carries slippage risk. If you check "sell account assets to repay", the actual conversion amount is affected by market fluctuations; large conversions may cause significant slippage.

Verification After Operation
Open Assets → Account Balances, check all coins in sequence. If the liability field is 0 for all, repayment is complete. If residual debt remains (usually interest or precision issues), click the Repay button for that coin to settle individually.
Verification channels: OKX App/Web Assets → Account Balances and Leverage Account page.
