How to Deposit NEAR on OKX? Near Protocol Funding Tutorial
NEAR addresses come in two formats: a readable Account ID (such as alice.near) and a 64-character implicit address. When depositing to OKX, you must use the 64-character implicit address. Before initiating a transfer from your wallet, confirm that both sides have selected "NEAR Protocol" as the network. Choosing the wrong network may result in permanent loss of funds.
1. Complete OKX Account KYC
Goal: Ensure your OKX account has passed identity verification.
Steps:
- Log in to the OKX app or website and go to [User Center] → [Identity Verification].
- Follow the instructions to submit your ID documents and complete the standard identity check. The deposit function is not available until KYC is completed.
Completion check: Your account status shows "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verification".
2. Obtain Your NEAR Deposit Address on OKX
Goal: Log in to OKX, go to the deposit page, and get your NEAR deposit address.
Steps:
- Log in to the OKX app or website and tap [Assets] → [Deposit] → [Deposit crypto].
- Search for "NEAR".
- Select network: Choose [NEAR Protocol] mainnet. NEAR is an independent Layer-1 blockchain with its own mainnet and is not sent via BEP20 or ERC20 networks.
- The page will generate a 64-character deposit address (implicit address). Copy this address.
Completion check: You have copied the 64-character NEAR deposit address provided by OKX and confirmed that the network selected is the NEAR Protocol mainnet.
Prerequisite: OKX KYC identity verification is complete.
Note: The NEAR deposit address on OKX is an implicit address (64-character string), not a readable Account ID such as alice.near. The NEAR protocol supports both address formats, but currently the implicit address must be used for deposits.
3. Initiate the Transfer from an External Wallet: Verify Address and Network
Goal: Send NEAR from your external wallet (e.g., OKX Web3 Wallet, Sender Wallet, etc.) to OKX.
Steps:
- Open your external wallet, locate the NEAR asset, and tap [Send] or [Transfer].
- Paste the 64-character NEAR implicit address you copied from OKX into the "Recipient address" field.
- Crucial step: In the "Select network" field, you must choose [NEAR Protocol] or [NEAR Mainnet], exactly matching the network you selected on OKX.
- Confirm your wallet holds enough NEAR to cover gas fees. Transactions on the NEAR network require a small amount of NEAR as fees.
- Submit the transaction.
Completion check: The transaction has been submitted, and your wallet shows "Transaction broadcast" or "Pending confirmation" along with a TxID.
Common reasons for failure:
- Incorrect address type: Using a readable Account ID like alice.near as the deposit address. You must use the 64-character implicit address for deposits. Some platforms do not yet support sending to Account ID addresses.
- Wrong network: Selecting a BEP20 or ERC20 network to send to a NEAR address. Sending funds over the wrong network usually cannot be recovered.
- Insufficient gas: The wallet does not have enough NEAR to pay transaction fees.
Risk notes:
- You must use the implicit address format. NEAR documentation clearly distinguishes between readable Account IDs and implicit addresses. Currently, deposits require the implicit address. Support for readable addresses varies across platforms; using the implicit address is universally the safest option.
- Fiat deposit methods vary by region. If you plan to buy NEAR with a bank card or bank transfer instead of sending from an external wallet, the available options depend on your location. OKX will display the payment methods available to you.
4. Confirm the Deposit
Goal: Wait for blockchain confirmations and check your OKX account balance.
Steps:
- Use the TxID to check the transaction status on a NEAR block explorer.
- Log in to OKX, go to [Assets] → [Funding Account] or [Spot Account], and check whether the NEAR balance has increased.
Completion check: The NEAR balance in your OKX spot account has been updated.
Verification tip: Enter the TxID into a NEAR block explorer and confirm the transaction status is "Success". Then log in to OKX and view the NEAR balance on the [Assets] page. For a first-time deposit, it is recommended to send a small test amount first and transfer the remainder only after the test arrives. If the deposit takes a long time to appear, first check that the network selected during the deposit matches.
