Your recurring buy plan may fail for two main reasons: not enough USDT in your payment account, or your single order amount is below the minimum. Don't delete the plan yet—follow these two steps, and you'll likely find the problem.

Step 1: Check the Payment Account's USDT Balance

A recurring buy plan won't automatically take money from your funding or financial accounts. It only uses the "trading account" you selected when creating the plan.

  • What to do: Make sure the payment account tied to your recurring buy has enough USDT.

  • How to do it:

    1. Open the OKX app, go to TradeStrategies, and find your recurring buy strategy.

    2. Check the strategy details to see which payment account it uses (OKX lets you set a custom deduction order from trading, funding, and financial accounts).

    3. Go to that account and check the USDT balance. Make sure it's higher than the amount you set for each recurring purchase.

    4. If your USDT is in the funding account, you need to manually transfer it to the trading account first before the strategy can use it.

  • Success check: The USDT balance in the payment account is ≥ the single recurring buy amount.

  • Common reason for failure: Many users think the money will be taken from their "funding account" or "earn account," but the system only looks at the "trading account" by default. If the USDT is in the wrong place, the balance appears insufficient.

Step 2: Check If the Single Amount Meets the Minimum

Every crypto has a minimum investment for recurring buys. If you don't meet it, the system won't place the order.

  • What to do: Confirm your per-cycle amount is not below the OKX minimum.

  • How to do it: OKX spot recurring buy strategies require at least 2 USDT per order. If your amount is under 2 USDT, the plan will skip that execution.

  • Success check: Single order amount ≥ 2 USDT.

Risk note: If the account balance is too low and the payment fails, the system will skip only that one cycle. It won't try to deduct again later, and you won't be penalized. However, you'll miss buying that period, which can affect your long-term dollar-cost averaging effect.

After You Fix It

After topping up USDT or adjusting the amount, you don't need to retry manually. The system will execute automatically in the next recurring cycle. Visit the recurring buy strategy page to check the status. If it shows "running" and there is no new error next to the latest failed record, the problem is solved.

Next Steps

If both checks pass but the plan still fails, consider deleting the current plan and creating a new one. When setting it up, double-check the payment account and amount before submitting. If you see multiple failures in a row, open the recurring buy plan details page to see the specific failure reason, or contact online customer support for help.
