OKX copy trading has no single fixed minimum investment. It depends on your capital plan. You can start as low as 10 USDT per trade, but how much you need depends on the copy mode you choose – fixed amount or fixed ratio. These two modes decide how your money is allocated.
Mode 1: Fixed Margin (by Amount)
With this mode, you set a fixed amount for each copied trade. Every time the trader opens a position, your account copies that exact amount. This suits beginners with smaller funds who want to control risk per trade. For example, if you set 10 USDT per trade and the trader opens 10 positions, you invest at most 100 USDT. Your loss range matches your budget. The minimum per trade on OKX is 10 USDT.
Risk reminder: Setting the per-trade amount too low can cause copy failures. If 10 USDT falls below the platform's minimum order size, the system will reject the copy. Make sure the amount is valid for your chosen trading pair.
Mode 2: Fixed Ratio (by Multiplier)
This mode copies a percentage of the trader's position size. For example, with a ratio of 0.1, if the trader opens a 10,000 USDT position, you copy 1,000 USDT. It's more flexible, but the capital requirement fluctuates a lot. The trader's position sizes vary, so your copy amount changes too. A high ratio could suddenly tie up a lot of funds; too low a ratio could make the copy amount fall below the platform's minimum.
Capital Planning Guide
When using OKX copy trading, you also need to set a "maximum copy amount" – the total fund cap you allow for a particular trader. Once the combined margin across all open copies reaches this limit, the system stops new copies until positions close and free up funds. This prevents you from over-committing capital.
If you have 300 USDT and want to manage risk, you could set 10–20 USDT per trade and a maximum copy amount of 200 USDT. That way, even with frequent trades, losses stay manageable.
Common Reasons for Failure
Insufficient available balance: When a trader opens a position, your account lacks enough USDT to cover the margin. The copy fails immediately.
Per-trade amount below platform minimum: The trading pair's minimum order size limits the validity of your copy amount.
Maximum copy amount set too low: Suppose you set a 100 USDT cap and 20 USDT per trade. If the trader opens a 6th position, it will fail because the cap is already reached.
Next Steps
Before activating copy trading, go to the copy settings page. Fill in the per-trade amount and the max copy amount. Confirm your account has enough balance. Beginners are advised to start with the fixed amount mode, using 10–20 USDT per trade for one to two weeks. Monitor the success rate and capital usage, then decide whether to adjust.
