The complete Bisq Easy process is: you first create or accept an offer, after the other party accepts, you enter a trade chat, the buyer pays via bank transfer or other methods, and the seller releases the Bitcoin after confirming receipt of the fiat currency. The buyer pays fiat first, and only then is the Bitcoin sent. This is the core risk structure of Bisq Easy. The trade limit is equivalent to 600 USD, with a minimum of 6 USD. There is no security deposit, and safety is built on the seller's reputation system.

What to Prepare Before Your First Trade
Download Bisq 2 (not Bisq 1). Bisq Easy is the first trading protocol in Bisq 2, and it is a separate application from Bisq 1. They can be installed at the same time without affecting each other. The download address is bisq.network, and there are corresponding versions for mobile devices.
Bisq Easy does not require you to hold Bitcoin in advance as a deposit. This is different from Bisq 1's multisig escrow model; it uses seller reputation instead of a deposit. So even if you don't have a single satoshi in your wallet, you can start buying coins.
You need to prepare a supported fiat payment method. Bisq Easy will list currently available payment methods during onboarding. You should select at least one, and you can select several. The more you select, the easier it is to match with a trading partner. SEPA, Revolut, Zelle, and other regional bank transfers have good liquidity in European and American markets, but the specific supported methods depend on your country and version.
Regarding regions: Bisq itself has no geographical restrictions, does not require registration, and does not verify identity. However, your payment method may have geographical restrictions—for example, Zelle is mainly for US users, and SEPA is for the Eurozone. Whether you can use it depends on whether your bank account supports these payment networks.
Offers: The Difference Between Accepting and Creating
There are two ways to start a trade: accept someone else's offer, or create your own offer.
Accepting an existing offer is faster and is the recommended path for beginners. Open Bisq 2, select Bisq Easy on the left, select Getting started at the top, and click Start trade wizard. The wizard will guide you step by step to choose whether to buy or sell, what fiat currency to use, which payment methods to accept, and how much you want to buy. After filling this out, you will see a list of matching offers, sorted by seller reputation from high to low by default. The top of the list shows the highest reputation sellers, who are the lowest risk choices. Select an offer, confirm, and the trade begins.
Creating your own offer is slower, but you are the maker. In Bisq Easy, select Offerbook or the corresponding creation entry, and set the amount of BTC you want to buy/sell, the price, and the payment method. After creating it, you need to keep the application online so others can see your offer. You will receive a notification when the offer is accepted.
An easily overlooked detail: the offer will remain open until you actively close it. If you only want to trade once, close it after it is accepted, otherwise others may continue to take the offer.
About the price: Sellers on Bisq Easy usually sell Bitcoin at a premium of 10-15% above the market price. This premium reflects the cost sellers incur to build reputation, as well as the service fee for providing a non-KYC entry channel. If you see a premium significantly lower than this range, first check if the seller's reputation score is sufficient.
Reputation is the only trust mechanism in Bisq Easy. A seller needs at least a reputation score of 30,000 to trade. Ideally, you should choose sellers with higher scores and higher star ratings. A 5-star seller is much safer than a 1-star seller. Reputation is earned by burning or locking BSQ tokens. A seller who has burned about 800 USD worth of BSQ can roughly trade an amount around 200 USD.
Payment: Buyer Pays First, But There Are Several Rules to Follow
After the trade starts, the buyer and seller exchange information in the trade chat window. The seller sends the payment account information, and the buyer sends their BTC address.
Only pay to the account provided by the seller in the Bisq trade chat window. If the seller tries to change the payment account to another one in the chat, cancel the trade directly and find another seller. This is a common scam variant explicitly warned against by Bisq officials.
Pay from the account you told the seller about in the chat. Do not use a spouse's account, a friend's account, or a company account to pay on your behalf. If you encounter payment problems, communicate and resolve them in the chat first, or open mediation, rather than switching to another account to send money. Changing the payment account makes mediation very difficult because you cannot prove that the money was sent by you.
Leave the payment note field blank. If the bank forces you to fill in a note, write your own name. Absolutely do not write any words related to "Bitcoin", "BTC", "Bisq", or "Trade". Banking systems monitor these keywords and may freeze your account or flag the transaction.
After completing the payment, click "Payment sent" in Bisq to notify the seller that the fiat money has been sent. Keep the payment receipt. Do not communicate with the seller through WhatsApp, Matrix, or other channels outside of Bisq. If a problem arises, mediators cannot see these chat logs and cannot use them as evidence.
After the seller confirms receipt of the fiat currency, they will release the Bitcoin. Depending on the payment method, the entire process may take from a few hours to several business days. SEPA transfers usually take 1-3 business days. If the fiat transfer takes longer, both parties need to come online at least once a day to follow up on the trade status.
Disputes and Mediation
The dispute handling entry point in Bisq Easy is in the trade interface. If you have any concerns about the trade, you can initiate mediation at any time while the trade is in progress. Click the "request mediation" link in the trade interface, and a mediator will join the trade chat, gather information, and give suggestions.
The mediator's authority is limited. Bisq Easy does not have multisig escrow, so the mediator does not have keys to forcibly distribute funds. What they can do is assess the situation, make suggestions, and, if necessary, ban rule-breaking traders. This is different from Bisq 1's arbitration mechanism—Bisq 1 has 2-of-2 multisig escrow and time-locked transactions, allowing arbitrators to intervene more substantively.
Mediation can resolve most problems, but only if both parties are willing to cooperate. If a seller receives money but does not release the Bitcoin, the mediator can ban the seller's Bisq reputation, but the fiat money already sent will not automatically be refunded. This is the core cost of Bisq Easy using reputation instead of escrow: reputation punishment only deters people who still want to continue using Bisq.
If mediation cannot resolve the issue, the last resort is the Bisq DAO reimbursement process. This is a community governance-level remedy, not a customer service refund channel. It may only apply in cases of protocol vulnerabilities or extreme circumstances.
When Should You Stop and Not Continue
In the following situations, it is safer to cancel the trade or withhold payment:
The seller asks to change the payment account. This is the clearest signal to stop. In a normal Bisq Easy trade, the account information is provided by the seller through Bisq chat at the start of the trade and should not change midway.
The seller asks to communicate through channels outside of Bisq. WhatsApp, Telegram, or Matrix are not acceptable. Mediators can only see chat logs inside Bisq, and communicating outside will make your dispute almost impossible to handle fairly.
The seller's reputation score is too low or the star rating is too low. Bisq's minimum threshold is 30,000 points, but you can prioritize high-score sellers in the offer list. If the top offers in the list have slightly higher premiums but good reputation, paying a little more buys you a verifiable trade record.
You have not yet confirmed whether the payment method is supported. Confirm that your bank or payment app supports the methods listed by Bisq before starting the trade. Finding out after payment that the method is incompatible can be troublesome to deal with.
Bisq Easy is suitable for small amounts and first-time attempts at non-KYC coin buying. The 600 USD limit itself hints at this. Do not treat it as a channel for large deposits or withdrawals.
