When a BNB transfer shows insufficient balance, it usually doesn't mean you have no funds. Instead, you need to set aside some BNB to cover gas fees, as "wallet balance" and "available balance" are different concepts within the Binance ecosystem.

First, here's a basic rule: Any transfer on BNB Chain (BSC), including sending BNB itself, requires a small amount of BNB as a gas fee. This fee is not charged by Binance but is paid to the blockchain network validators. The balance in your wallet must exceed "transfer amount + gas fee" for the transaction to succeed.
Confirm the Type of Wallet You're Using
There are two types of Binance wallets, and the troubleshooting steps are completely different:
Case A: You're sending BNB from a Web3 decentralized wallet (such as Trust Wallet or the Web3 wallet inside the Binance app)
In this case, the gas fee is deducted directly from the address you're sending from. When transferring BNB, gas fee is paid in BNB. The "available balance" shown already subtracts the estimated gas fee, but if you click "Send All," the system will show insufficient balance because you need to leave some BNB for gas.
Solution: Manually reduce the transfer amount, leaving around 0.001–0.005 BNB for gas. Normal gas fees on BNB Chain are usually between $0.01 and $0.50, so reserving 0.001 BNB is more than enough. If you're sending a token other than BNB on BSC (e.g., USDT), you must still have BNB in your wallet to pay the gas fee.
Risk reminder: If the gas fee is set too low or the network is congested, the transaction may fail, and the gas fee already deducted will not be refunded. So it's better to leave a bit more than to set the minimum.
Case B: You're withdrawing or transferring from a Binance centralized exchange (spot/funding account)
The logic for exchange transfers is more complex. Here are two common situations where insufficient balance occurs:
Cross-wallet transfers: If you're using "Unified Account Pro," your funds are spread across spot, cross margin, futures, and other wallets. The "total balance" displayed may be sufficient, but the available balance in the current wallet may not be enough. You need to use the "Consolidate Funds" feature first to transfer balances from other wallets into the cross margin wallet, then proceed with the withdrawal.
Payment priority: When using Binance Pay, if there isn't enough balance in one type of account, the system deducts from accounts in this order of priority: Funding account > Spot account > Funding + Spot > Flexible Earn account. Make sure the account the system is trying to charge actually has available balance.
Common Reasons for Failure
Many people confuse "exchange spot balance" with "on-chain wallet balance." The asset balance you see in the Binance app is a number in your exchange account, not an on-chain wallet asset. When withdrawing to an external wallet, the gas fee (network fee) is deducted from your spot account balance, but it must be the native coin of the network you're using (for example, withdrawing BNB via BSC requires BNB in your spot account). If you have USDT in your spot account but no BNB, the system won't automatically convert USDT to BNB to pay the gas fee; it will simply show insufficient balance. Additionally, if you use the "Pay gas fees from your spot/funding account" feature, make sure your spot or funding account holds at least 0.01 BNB.

Next Steps
If you've confirmed the balance is sufficient but keep getting an error, check your "Transaction History" for any open orders or frozen balances that may be tying up your available funds. For exchange transfers, use the "Transfer" function, not "Withdraw." If you're using a Web3 wallet, manually adjust the transfer amount to "total minus 0.001 BNB" to leave room for gas.
