If you forget to fill in the Memo when depositing, the most direct solution is to use Binance's official "Missing/Incorrect Tag/Memo Recovery Request" tool for self-processing, instead of contacting customer support immediately.

1. Step 1: Confirm if the transaction is eligible for recovery

Not all cases of missing Memo can be processed. Confirm the following points before submitting a request:

Eligible for recovery:

  • The transaction shows as "Successful/Confirmed" on the blockchain

  • The crypto asset you are depositing is already listed on Binance

  • The receiving address you used is the unique deposit address generated by Binance for your own account

Cases that cannot be recovered:

  • The transaction has not been confirmed by the blockchain yet

  • The incorrect Memo you entered happens to belong to another existing Binance user - in this scenario, the assets have been credited to the other party's account, and Binance cannot assist with recovery

  • The crypto asset you are depositing is not in Binance's supported asset list

Completion milestone: You confirm the transaction shows "Success" on the block explorer, and the receiving address is indeed the one generated by Binance for your account.

Common failure reason: You entered the wrong address instead of the wrong Memo. The self-service recovery tool only applies to scenarios where the address is correct but the Memo is missing or incorrect. If the deposit address itself is wrong, Binance cannot help you retrieve the funds.

2. Step 2: Locate the Transaction Hash (TxID)

TxID is the unique identifier to track this transaction on the block explorer, which is mandatory for submitting the recovery request.

How to get it:

  • Go to the platform (exchange or wallet) you sent funds from, and find this specific withdrawal record

  • Copy the corresponding Transaction Hash (TxID/TxHash) - it is usually a long string of letters and numbers

  • You can also enter your Binance deposit address in the corresponding block explorer to find this transaction record

Completion milestone: You have copied the full, complete TxID of this transaction.

3. Step 3: Submit the self-service recovery request

After you have the TxID ready, go to Binance's official recovery page.

Operation path:

  1. Visit Binance's "Missing or Incorrect Tag/Memo Recovery Request" page (you can find the entry in the Help Center after logging into your Binance account)

  2. Paste your TxID and click submit. If the system recognizes this transaction, the crypto type, network, address and amount will be auto-filled

  3. If the transaction is not auto-recognized, manually enter the crypto type, deposit network, receiving address and deposit amount

  4. Double check all information is correct, then submit the request

Completion milestone: Submission is successful, and the page shows the request record has been generated.

4. Step 4: Wait for processing and confirm related fees

After submission, the Binance team will review your request.

Key information to note:

  • The processing time usually takes 7 working days or more

  • Binance will charge a processing fee, which is generally 5 times the standard transfer fee of the corresponding crypto

  • If the remaining amount after deducting the processing fee is lower than the minimum withdrawal amount of that crypto, Binance cannot assist with recovery

  • After successful recovery, the assets will be returned to the original source address (the address you sent funds from), and will not be directly credited to your Binance account

You can click "View Request Records" on the recovery page to track the processing progress.

5. Step 5: If the source of funds is another exchange

If you withdrew the funds from another exchange to Binance, you will need to contact that exchange to re-credit the funds after the assets are returned.

Full workflow: Binance returns assets to the source address → Contact the customer support of your withdrawal platform → Provide Binance's refund record → Ask the platform to re-credit the funds to your account.

Completion milestone: You have contacted the withdrawal platform and confirmed they have accepted your request.

Risk Warning: Binance's Memo recovery is a manual processing service, and 100% success is not guaranteed. If the incorrect Memo you entered happens to be another user's ID and funds have been credited to their account, Binance cannot force a recovery. The processing cycle is relatively long, please do not submit duplicate requests during the waiting period.

Next Steps

If you just found out you forgot to fill in the Memo, do not panic first. Go to your withdrawal platform to copy the TxID, then open the Binance App or web version, search for "Missing or Incorrect Tag/Memo Recovery Request" to enter the tool page. Use the TxID to check if this transaction is eligible for recovery. After submitting the request, note down the request number and wait patiently for the processing result.
