OKX Onchain Spot & Perp Public Beta: Trading XP to Exit

The "onchain spot & perpetual public beta" and "XP trading" in the title refer to a simulated trading activity OKX opened in mid-October 2026 that does not involve real funds. In the app, you use XP to place orders, view profit and loss, and compete for rankings. All positions and points will not be converted into real assets after the activity ends. In the public beta stage, "exit" means stopping simulated trading and no longer participating in rankings. After the activity ends, XP is cleared according to the rules. There is no need for and no such thing as a "withdrawal" operation.

If you see the note that "XP cannot be withdrawn" but still cannot find an exit entry, the reason is that this product was never designed with a path to "take XP out." It is an activity point, not a balance.

First confirm whether you are eligible to enter

Whether the public beta entry appears depends on the region of your account. The eligible customers stated in OKX's official announcement come from Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, the CIS region, and the Middle East and North Africa. If you are outside these regions, or your account has not completed identity verification, the onchain trading page may not show the enable entry at all. The official FAQ states: if the enable entry appears on the page, follow the guide to apply. If there is no entry, the service is currently unavailable to you.

Even if you have the entry, first-time use requires enabling an onchain account. This account shares the same identity as your OKX centralized exchange (CEX) account, but assets, positions, and trading records are separate. When enabling, you usually need to agree to the terms, confirm a compliant bound email, use or create a Passkey, and possibly complete facial verification. The system creates an AA smart account for you, and daily use does not require you to manage private keys or seed phrases yourself. This is different from DEX trading in the OKX Web3 wallet and does not require importing a wallet like MetaMask.

XP trading: what you are actually operating

The first batch of simulated trading pairs opened in the public beta is themed around TradFi assets, including gold (ptXAUT-XP, ptXAU-XP), S&P 500 ETF (ptXSPY-XP), SpaceX (ptSPCX-XP), NVIDIA (ptNVDA-XP), Unitree (ptUNITREE-XP), and others. Spot and perpetual contracts are two independent sets of trading pairs. Positions you buy in spot with XP will not appear as margin in perpetual contracts.

XP is obtained and used within the activity framework. During the activity, XP shares the points pool and prize pool with the Oracle S3 season. The activity runs from October 15, 2026, 10:00 (UTC+8) to November 15, 2026, 00:00 (UTC+8). Sources of XP include season registration welcome points, daily check-ins, prediction milestones, invitations, and more. However, the official announcement does not list item by item whether there are additional XP earning tasks specifically for the onchain spot/perpetual public beta. You need to check your XP balance and earning records on the activity page, not infer them from trading profit and loss.

A point that is easy to misunderstand: the profit and loss of simulated trading itself does not directly generate withdrawable value. XP is a consumable used to place orders and participate in rankings, not "money earned." ChainCatcher's report also confirms that activity XP and positions will not be converted into real funds or positions.

Exit: stop trading, wait for settlement, do not wait for withdrawal

If you do not want to continue participating, the operation is very simple: stop placing orders and stop participating in rankings. There is no mandatory step to "close the onchain account," and there is no entry to transfer XP back to your CEX account.

After the public beta ends, OKX says it will open real fund trading. Users will be able to fund their onchain account from their OKX exchange account, and spot and perpetual contracts will be settled onchain in USDS. But that is a new stage after the public beta and is separate from the current XP simulated activity. The XP and simulated positions you currently hold will be handled according to the rules when the activity ends and will not automatically become a real USDS balance.

If you enabled the onchain account during the public beta but do not want to use it later, the onchain account itself does not need to be "canceled." It is isolated from the assets in your CEX account. If no funds remain in it, there is nothing to withdraw. The Passkey can be kept. If OKX later opens real fund onchain trading, the same onchain account may continue to be used. If you do not want to keep the Passkey, you can manage it in security settings, but this does not affect your participation status in the XP activity.

A judgment worth noting

During the public beta stage, onchain spot and perpetual trading runs on Exchange OS based on X Layer. Order matching, liquidation, and funding fee settlement all take place onchain. Some OKX content mentions that depth and liquidation smoothness during the public beta are unknown, and "rushing in as the first batch of liquidity is testing bugs for others." That statement refers to the future real fund stage. The current XP simulation has no real loss risk, but if you want to be among the first to enter with real money after the public beta ends, you need to judge for yourself whether you accept the uncertainty of that stage. Simulated trading performance cannot be directly treated as an expectation for real fund trading.
