The fixed conversion ratio for STG to ZRO is 1 STG = 0.08634 ZRO, and this ratio will not change. What you really need to handle right away is the exchange-side deadline: Binance will stop STG trading and close deposits and withdrawals on October 6, 2026. If you keep STG on an exchange, the exchange will automatically convert it for you. If you keep STG in your own wallet, you need to act on your own before the LayerZero official swap contract deadline of December 15, 2026.

Is converting STG to ZRO still worth it now?
If you convert at the fixed ratio, the ZRO you receive is worth about 32% less than what you would get by simply selling STG directly on the market.
This is not speculation. Using data from September 19 as an example: 1,000 STG through the swap channel gives you 86.34 ZRO, worth about 96.70 USD at the CoinGecko price at that time. The same 1,000 STG sold directly on the market, with STG at about 0.1428 USD at the time, would give you about 142.84 USD. The gap comes from the fact that when the conversion ratio was set in August 2025, ZRO was valued at 1.94 USD, but by September 2026 the actual ZRO price had fallen to about 1.12 USD, a drop of about 42%.
This means you now face a clear choice: if you only want to exit STG, selling directly on the market before the deadline usually gives you more money than going through the conversion channel. If you already planned to hold ZRO long term and are bullish on the LayerZero ecosystem, then conversion is the natural choice. You do not need extra operations, and you do not need to buy back on the market.
Binance users: automatic conversion, but watch two time points
If you hold STG on Binance, the platform will complete the conversion automatically. You do not need to do anything manually or sign any wallet transactions.
There are two time points to watch:
October 6, 2026, 11:00 (UTC+8): STG spot trading pairs stop trading, and all unfilled STG orders are automatically canceled.
Same day, 11:30 (UTC+8): STG deposits and withdrawals are suspended.
Binance expects to complete the token swap at October 9, 16:00 (UTC+8). After the swap is complete, the STG in your account will become ZRO.
If your STG is still in an on-chain wallet, you need to deposit it to Binance before 11:30 on October 6 to catch Binance's automatic swap. On-chain STG that is not deposited by the deadline will need to be handled through LayerZero's swap contract yourself, with a deadline of December 15.
Extra processing time for margin, futures, and earn users
Users holding STG-related derivatives or earn products need to clean up earlier than spot users. Check each item one by one:
Binance Margin: From September 19, 06:00 (UTC), STG cross and isolated margin borrowing is suspended. On September 24, 10:00 (UTC), STG is removed from margin trading pairs.
Binance Futures: From September 24, 08:30 (UTC), you can no longer open new STG positions. At 09:00 (UTC) the same day, all open STG futures positions are automatically closed and settled.
Binance Simple Earn: From September 30, 07:00 (UTC), STG flexible earn support stops, and remaining positions and rewards are automatically redeemed to your spot account.
Binance Pay / Convert / Quick Swap: STG will be gradually removed from these products from late September to early October.
If you have STG grid strategies or spot copy trading, Binance spot copy trading will remove the related trading pairs at October 5, 03:00 (UTC). Unhandled positions will be transferred to your spot account, and trading bots will also be taken offline at the same time. You need to manually adjust or cancel strategies before the deadline. Otherwise, the strategy will become invalid, and funds will return to your spot account but may not be executed at the price you expected.
Not on Binance: other exchanges are moving on the same schedule
Bitget has announced support for the swap with the same ratio, 1 STG = 0.08634 ZRO. BingX spot trading stops at September 30, 11:00 (UTC+8), and deposits and withdrawals were already suspended at September 18, 18:00 (UTC+8). The platform will also automatically complete the swap for users.
If your exchange is not in the list above, go to its announcement page now and search for "STG". Confirm two things: whether it supports automatic swap, and the deadlines for deposits, withdrawals, and trading. Different exchanges may differ by a few days to a week, but the direction is the same: STG as an independent token is being phased out.
STG in your wallet: the path and risks of swapping yourself
If you keep STG in MetaMask, Rabby, or a hardware wallet, you need to connect to the LayerZero official swap contract yourself to complete the conversion. LayerZero co-founders confirmed that the swap contract will remain open long term, with no closing schedule. However, the third-party reported December 15 deadline conflicts with the "long-term open" statement. The safest approach is not to wait until December, and to complete the swap or sale within October.
The general on-chain swap path is: visit LayerZero's official channel to find the swap contract entry → connect the wallet holding STG → approve STG → swap to ZRO at the 1:0.08634 ratio. Please obtain the specific contract address from LayerZero's official documentation or announcements. Do not enter through third-party links to avoid phishing contracts.
One reminder: this swap is one-way. Once you swap out, you cannot swap back. If you have no judgment on ZRO's long-term value, before swapping on-chain you can first compare: would transferring STG to an exchange that supports STG spot trading and selling it fit your needs better than swapping to ZRO? Considering the current conversion discount of about 32%, selling directly gives you more money in most cases.

What to confirm after the conversion is complete
For on-chain swaps, check your address on a blockchain explorer and confirm that the ZRO balance has arrived and the STG balance has decreased. For exchange automatic swaps, watch Binance's announced swap completion time, expected at October 9, 16:00 UTC+8, and check the ZRO balance in your spot account at that time. If STG is still there after the swap is complete and ZRO has not increased, contact exchange customer support with your account information and the relevant time points.
One-sentence judgment: if you want to keep holding the LayerZero ecosystem, use the swap. If you only want to exit STG, sell directly before the deadline. Either way, first confirm which platform your STG is on and which deadline applies. That is the one thing you cannot delay right now.
