You found that you chose the wrong region. This can be annoying. The key issue is: The encrypted "proof" generated by zkKYC is locked to the information that passed verification at that time. If the region is wrong, you must generate a new proof that includes the correct region. Whether you can overwrite it directly, and how to update it, depends on which zkKYC service you use.
This process is called "re-verification." You do not need to explain your fund flow history from the past months or years all over again.
How to re-verify — it depends on the service provider's setup
Case A: You use a zkKYC service that supports Cross-chain mode, such as zkMe
zkMe offers two verification setups: On-chain Mint and Cross-chain.
If you use Cross-chain mode, your verification credential (SBT) only exists on the Polygon mainnet. When you want to use it on another chain, your wallet creates a fresh zero-knowledge proof on the spot, bound to the current project and a specific "challenge code" for that chain. If you only entered the wrong region and need to correct it, go through the widget authorization flow again to update the verification status on that chain. You do not need to upload your original ID document again.
Case B: You use Blockpass On-chain KYC
Blockpass is designed as "one user, one KYC profile, which can be updated or expanded based on different service requirements." When you need to add region information, you only need to add the verification element for that region in Blockpass for this project. You do not need to redo full KYC from scratch.
Why you cannot "edit" the data inside the proof yourself
The proof generated by zkKYC is based on your original document data (name, date of birth, document number, nationality, etc.). It is created on the spot after local OCR or NFC chip reading. The information in the proof is locked to the original document you submitted at that time. If the region is wrong, the proof material itself contains wrong information. The correct step is to re-verify with the correct document (or correct address proof).
How to check
After re-verification, go to the DeFi protocol's "KYC status" or "eligibility" page. If the status shows "verified" or "authorized," and the region information has been updated to your corrected content, the new proof is active and the account access restriction has been lifted.
