Portfolio Tracking Alternatives After Zapper Shuts Down

Zapper will officially stop operating on August 3, 2026, at which point the website, app, and API will all become inaccessible. Your on-chain assets will not be lost, but custom tags, views, and some historical transaction records within Zapper will not be retained with your account.

Here are the 4 types of data you must export before the shutdown:

Steps: Export by Priority

Step 1: Export the complete transaction report (most important, for tax and cost records)

Zapper supports generating a CSV file of all your on-chain activity.

  1. Log in to Zapper's web version and go to the Reports page.

  2. Select the date range and network scope (selecting all is recommended).

  3. Click Generate Report and download the CSV file.

  4. Completion criteria: The CSV file is saved locally and can be opened normally in Excel to view all transaction records.

Note: The data exported from Zapper does not include gas fee conversions. Gas consumption must be checked separately for each transaction on block explorers like Etherscan.

Step 2: Record custom tags and notes (cannot be exported in bulk)

If you've given addresses or tokens custom names in Zapper (e.g., "Wallet A," "Staking Address"), that information will be gone after the shutdown.

  1. On Zapper's "Portfolio" page, go through page by page and check the wallets and protocol addresses you've labeled.

  2. Manually screenshot or copy and paste all custom names, then save them in a local memo or in Notion.

  3. Completion criteria: All labeled addresses have been recorded so they can be manually recreated after migrating to a new platform.

Step 3: Record a snapshot of your holdings

The Zapper shutdown does not affect your on-chain assets, but if you need a "holdings summary as of the shutdown date," now is the easiest time to take a screenshot.

  1. On Zapper's Portfolio page, screenshot your overall asset distribution and each protocol's position details.

  2. Keep at least one asset screenshot that includes a date.

  3. Completion criteria: The asset distribution and DeFi protocol position ratios for each wallet are all recorded.

Step 4: Check if you have API dependencies

If you are using Zapper's API to read data, those interfaces will completely stop working after August 3. API users will receive migration guidance before the shutdown.

  1. Confirm whether any program or script is fetching data through the Zapper API.

  2. If you need an alternative, you must migrate to the API of competitor platforms like DeBank or Zerion, or connect directly to blockchain nodes.

  3. Completion criteria: You have confirmed there are no unreplaced API dependencies, or you have contacted Zapper for transition guidance.

Status to Confirm

  • Your assets are not held on Zapper—it is a read-only dashboard. Assets are within the underlying DeFi protocols. As long as you keep your wallet's private key, your assets are safe. The shutdown simply removes a unified viewing entry point.

  • Both mobile and API will shut down simultaneously: Not only the web version, but the Zapper mobile app will also go offline on August 3.

Next Steps

After exporting is complete, you can begin migrating to an alternative platform. Currently recommended options include DeBank (supports 35+ chains) and Zerion (built-in wallet and trading features). Once you've migrated to a new platform, import the CSV transaction records from Step 1 as a historical reference.
