The news is already trending. On Polymarket, the "Yes" side for that event has been firmly above 0.99 USD, but your position still cannot be redeemed, and your USDC has not returned to your wallet.

"Winning but not being able to get the money" is one of the most frustrating situations in prediction markets. But in most cases this is not a platform failure. It simply means the platform's clearing and settlement process has not finished yet.
Core idea: a known result does not mean the market is settled
A prediction market is not a spot exchange. The event result is only the starting point for "claiming the prize." The shares you hold, such as YES tokens, must go through two stages before they become withdrawable USDC:
Oracle result confirmation: The platform needs to obtain the official result from an external data source. This may not happen instantly.
Market settlement: After the result is received, the system must convert your "YES shares" into USDC at a 1:1 ratio. This step does not happen automatically. It requires the platform to execute it, or the user to trigger it manually.
Before settlement is completed, your winning shares are still in your wallet, but they have not yet become a USDC balance.
Step 1: First check the market status: "Resolved" or "Open"
[What to do]: The most direct way is to look at the market status label and confirm which stage it has reached.
[How to do it]:
Find the position on your Portfolio or Positions page.
Check the corresponding market status field.
Case A: The status shows "Resolved"
Meaning: The platform has already received the final result and has entered the settlement process.
What to do: Check your balance. Sometimes settlement is already complete and USDC has already arrived in your Polymarket account balance, but you simply have not refreshed the page. If the balance really has not changed, settlement is still in the queue.
Case B: The status still shows "Open"
Meaning: This means the platform has not yet received the final result, or the market is still in a dispute period.
What to do: Keep waiting. You can follow the official announcements for that market to check the expected settlement time.
[Completion standard]: In the market list or position details, confirm that you can see the status label and tell whether it is "Resolved" or "Open."
Step 2: Why is the status "Resolved" but the money has not arrived?
Between "Resolved" and "money received," the process may still be stuck at one of the following stages:
Technical reason: settlement requires manual action: If your YES shares were not settled through Polymarket's automatic "redeem" function, but were manually purchased as ERC-1155 tokens from your wallet, then after the event ends you need to go to the market page and manually click the "Redeem" button to convert the shares into USDC. The system will not redeem them for you automatically.
Platform mechanism: batch settlement delay: After a popular event ends, such as an election, many users redeem at the same time, and the system processing queue slows down. Polymarket matching happens off-chain, but settlement happens on-chain on Polygon. It must wait in line to be included in blocks, and gas fees and network congestion can slow things down.
Settlement rule: from a single-point price to a time-window average price: This mainly applies to short-term crypto price markets. Starting August 7, 2026, to prevent manipulation, these markets no longer settle based on one price at expiry. Instead, they use an average price over a period, such as 30–60 seconds, known as TWAP. This can make the settlement result appear later than expected.
Extreme case: dispute arbitration period: If the market result is disputed, for example when the definition of "ceasefire" is ambiguous, it enters a voting and arbitration process by UMA token holders. This process may take several hours or even longer. During this period, your position will be frozen.
Step 3: If the status shows "Settled" but you do not see USDC
[What to do]: Confirm whether the funds are in your "account balance" or your "withdrawable balance."
[How to do it]:
Check your Polymarket account balance: Open your Portfolio page. If the market is "Resolved," funds usually return first to your USDC balance inside Polymarket, which can be used for further trading, rather than being directly withdrawable.
Try refreshing or reconnecting your wallet: This is the simplest and most effective method. After refreshing, cached data will update. If refreshing does not work, try disconnecting and reconnecting your wallet.
Check the Redeem entry: Look for a "Redeem" or "Claim" button under the "Ended" or "History" tabs.
Risk warning: Do not sell your winning shares at a low price when the status is unclear! Some users cannot wait for settlement and sell on the secondary market at a discount, such as 0.99 USD. If this is only a settlement delay, that means losing money for no reason.
Next actions
Check the status first: Confirm whether the market is "Resolved" or "Open."
Then check the balance: Check your Polymarket account balance. It may not be in your withdrawable balance.
Find the redeem button: If you manually hold shares, go to the market page and click "Redeem."
Finally, wait: If you have done the first three steps and it still does not work, it means the transaction is still in the processing queue. Usually wait a few hours and check again.

FAQ
Question: How long does dispute arbitration on Polymarket usually take? Answer: It is not fixed. Starting a dispute requires a deposit of 750 USDC, and then it enters the voting process by UMA token holders. This process may take from a few hours to about a day, depending on voting efficiency.
Question: If I never manually redeem, will my shares automatically become worthless? Answer: No. As long as the market is correctly settled and your result is confirmed, your shares remain valid. You can go to the history page and manually redeem them at any time.
