Jupiter limit orders that expire unfilled do not automatically return funds to your wallet. You need to manually perform a "cancel" action to get them back. The exact path depends on which version of limit orders you are using: Limit Order V2 (the current main version) keeps funds in a custody vault and requires a two-step cancellation process; Limit Order V1 (the old version) locks funds in the order account, and you can simply click cancel on the order history page. If you can't find the entry point, first confirm which version you are using, then follow the corresponding path.

First, determine whether you are using V1 or V2
Jupiter's limit orders have gone through version changes. V1 is being phased out, and the official recommendation is to use V2. The two versions store funds differently, and the retrieval process is also different.
How to tell: On the jup.ag/limit page, open Show History. If your wallet has unclosed V1 orders, a Switch to V1 link will appear above the V2 orders. Click it to see a Cancel Order button next to each order. If you do not see this switch entry, it means all your orders are V2.
V2 orders can be viewed under the Open Orders or Past Orders tabs on jup.ag/limit. On mobile, check under Portfolio sidebar → Limit → V1 (for the old version) or the corresponding V2 location.
V2 orders: Funds are in a custody vault, requiring a two-step cancellation
The mechanism of V2 is: when you place an order, tokens are deposited from your wallet into a vault managed by Privy, which holds funds for all your active orders. After an order expires, the funds remain in the vault and are not automatically returned. The official documentation states this directly: for orders that have expired or that you no longer want at that price, funds stay in the vault and must be retrieved through a two-step cancellation process — initiate cancellation, sign the withdrawal, and confirm.
In practice, find the expired order on jup.ag/limit and perform the cancellation. The system will return a withdrawal transaction for you to sign. After signing and submitting, the unfilled funds will return to your wallet. The success criterion is: the balance of the corresponding token in your wallet increases and the on-chain transaction is confirmed, not just seeing the page display "cancelled".
V1 orders: Direct cancellation, funds released from the order account
V1 locks funds in the order's on-chain account (PDA), and cancellation releases them. On jup.ag/limit, open Show History, click Switch to V1 to enter the old order list, and click Cancel Order on the corresponding order. You can also use Cancel All to cancel all V1 orders at once.
V1 cancellation is a direct on-chain operation. After cancellation, the locked tokens return to your wallet. Note that V1 has special handling for tokens with transfer fees (Token-2022): fees may be charged by the token itself when depositing, selling, or returning via cancellation. When cancelling such orders, the interface will ask for confirmation and display the fee rate for the return transfer.
One easy point of confusion: Perps "expired orders" are not limit orders
The Expired Orders tab and the statement about "funds returned in 1-2 minutes" that appear in search results refer to Jupiter Perps (perpetual contracts) where opening requests failed or expired, not spot limit orders. If you are using spot limit orders, do not look for the Perps Expired Orders entry — your limit order funds are not there.
Common reasons for failed retrieval
If funds still have not arrived after following the above paths, troubleshoot in this order:
Signature step interrupted. V2's two-step cancellation requires you to sign a withdrawal transaction. If you did not submit confirmation after signing, or the wallet popup was closed, the process will stop in an intermediate state. Go back to the order page and initiate cancellation again, completing both the signing and confirmation steps.
Wallet fails to parse token balance changes correctly. Jupiter's FAQ reminds users that wallet providers sometimes cannot fully parse transactions. It is recommended to check token balance changes directly on a blockchain explorer (such as Solscan) rather than relying only on the balance displayed by the wallet. If the chain shows funds have been returned but the wallet balance has not changed, the problem is on the wallet side.
The order has not actually expired, or the status display is incorrect. The default validity period for V2 limit orders is 7 days, configurable from 10 minutes to 30 days. If you remember setting an expiration time but the order is still in the active list, refresh the page or reconnect the wallet first to confirm the order status.
Completion criteria
The sign of successful fund retrieval is an increase in the token balance confirmed on-chain, not the page showing "cancelled" or "expired". Checking the balance change of the corresponding token in Solscan or the wallet's on-chain records is the only reliable verification method. If the chain shows funds have been returned but the wallet balance has not updated, contact your wallet provider; if the chain shows the transaction failed or funds are still in the vault contract, go back to the Jupiter interface and re-execute the cancellation process.
