Don't panic if your phone is lost. As long as your wallet was backed up, you can recover it. Binance Web3 wallet recovery has a clear condition: you must use the backup QR code (or cloud backup) you saved earlier on another device, plus the recovery password you set, to regain access to your wallet. If any of these is missing, recovery will not work.
First, Check Your Backup Status
Binance Web3 wallet uses MPC (Multi-Party Computation) technology and does not create a traditional seed phrase. Your private key is split into three independent shares:
Share 1: stored on Binance servers
Share 2: stored locally on your old phone
Share 3: encrypted with the recovery password you set, then stored in your iCloud or Google Drive
If your phone is lost, Share 2 is gone. But as long as you have Share 3 (cloud backup) or a QR code backup, plus Share 1 (held by Binance) and the recovery password, you can restore the wallet on a new phone.
Recovery Steps
Step 1: Confirm your backup method and device type [What to do] Determine which backup method you used before — cloud backup or QR code backup. [How to do it] Think back to whether you clicked 'cloud storage backup' or 'backup with QR code' when you created the wallet. If you confirm a backup was made, continue to the next step. If you do not remember making any backup, recovery is not possible. [Goal] Confirm that you have cloud backup access (signed in to the same iCloud/Google account) or that you saved a photo of the backup QR code.
Step 2: Start recovery on a new device [What to do] Sign in to the Binance App on the new phone and go to the Web3 wallet recovery page. [How to do it] Install the Binance App on the new phone and log in to your Binance account. Enter the Web3 wallet page, select 'Recover Wallet,' then choose 'Recover from cloud storage' or 'Scan backup QR code' according to your backup method. [Goal] The page asks you to enter your recovery password.
Step 3: Enter your recovery password [What to do] Enter the recovery password you originally set. [How to do it] Type it in the password box. Important: Binance cannot reset this password for you, and there is no recovery mechanism. If you forget the password, recovery is basically stuck. [Goal] The password is verified and wallet recovery begins. If you do not remember the password at all, changing devices will not help; recovery will fail.
Case A: Recover from cloud backup (iCloud/Google Drive) The new device must be the same type as the old device — an iCloud backup on iOS can only be restored on an iOS device, and the same applies to Google Drive backup on Android. If you switched systems (for example, iPhone to Android), the cloud backup route will not work unless you also have a QR code backup.
Case B: Recover from QR code backup QR code backup supports cross-device recovery (iOS ↔ Android works both ways). Make sure you have a clear photo of the QR code, scan it, and enter the password.
Risk reminder: If you forget the recovery password, the backup becomes useless, and Binance has no backdoor to help you recover it. There are real cases where users triggered a recovery process after updating the app, but could not remember the password and eventually had to give up on the assets. So when setting a recovery password, it is recommended to write it on paper and keep it somewhere safe, rather than only storing it in your memory.
Common Reasons for Failure
Recovery password forgotten: This is the most complained-about issue. Many people think recovery will just let them in, but the password is the only credential. If forgotten, access is permanently lost.
Backup method mismatch: Using an iCloud backup but switching to an Android phone will cause recovery to fail directly.
Never backed up: If you did not make a cloud or QR code backup before uninstalling the app, and then lost your phone, Share 2 disappears and Share 3 does not exist, so recovery is impossible.
Next Steps
If you still have your old phone and it can turn on, back it up immediately. Go to: Binance App → Web3 Wallet → tap 'Back up now,' choose cloud storage or QR code backup, set a recovery password, and write it down. After the backup is complete, verify the password once in 'Backup Management' to make sure it is correct. If you have already lost your old phone, try the recovery steps above, provided you made a backup and remember the password.
