How Does the Price Range Change After Binance Spot Grid Trailing Up?
When you enable Trailing Up, the entire price range of the spot grid shifts upward along with the rising market—the lowest price of the old range is canceled, and a new buy order is placed at the old highest price, allowing the grid to operate within a new, higher range. The new lowest price is raised, and the highest price is also lifted accordingly, but each grid's quote value remains constant, not the base currency quantity.

Below are the specific impacts of the trailing up feature on the price range and key points you need to pay attention to.
Prerequisites
You have created a Binance spot grid order and enabled the [Trailing Up] feature in the advanced settings.
You know the initial price range (lowest price, highest price) and the number of grids for this order.
You can view the current grid status on the [Running Bots] page.
Step 1: Confirm the Trigger Conditions and Mechanism of Trailing Up
After enabling trailing up, the grid does not change immediately. It only triggers when the price breaks through a specific threshold.
Trigger condition: The price rises above “current highest price + grid spacing”. For example, if the highest price is 45,000 USDT and the grid spacing is 4,000 USDT, the first trailing-up will trigger when the price exceeds 49,000 USDT.
Single trailing-up action: The bot will cancel the buy order at the lowest price of the current range and place a new buy order at the old highest price.
Verification: On the [Running] page, you should see that the 'Current Highest Price' and 'Current Lowest Price' of the grid have been updated, and the trailing-up count has increased.
Step 2: Understand the Specific Value Changes After the Range Adjustment
Each time a trailing-up occurs, the entire price range shifts upward by one grid spacing, but the value calculation for each grid changes.
| Parameter | Change Behavior |
|---|---|
| Lowest Price | Cancel the buy order at the current lowest price; the lowest price shifts up by one grid spacing |
| Highest Price | Place a new buy order at the old highest price; the highest price shifts up by one grid spacing |
| Grid Spacing | Remains consistent with the initial setting (percentage in proportional mode) |
| Quote Value per Grid | Remains unchanged; it is not the base currency quantity that stays constant |
Example: Initial range 25,000–45,000 USDT, spacing 4,000 USDT, 5 grids.
After the 1st trailing up: range becomes 29,000–49,000 USDT (lowest moves from 25,000→29,000, highest from 45,000→49,000).
After the 2nd trailing up: range becomes 33,000–53,000 USDT.
Verification: You are able to calculate the current upper and lower limits based on the initial parameters and the number of trailing-ups.
Step 3: Pay Attention to the Limit of the “Stop Trailing-Up Price”
When creating the grid, the system shows an Estimated Trailing Cap Price. Once the price reaches this level, the trailing-up feature will stop, and the grid will continue operating within the range at that time, without further upward shifts.
Verification: On the [Running] page, check how far the current price is from the stop trailing-up price to assess whether the feature still has room to operate.
Step 4: Note the Impact on the Stop-Loss Price
If you have set a stop-loss price for the grid, the trailing-up feature will adjust the stop-loss price upward by the same amount as the price range. This means that as the market rises, your stop-loss level is also lifted.
Verification: Go to the order details page and confirm whether the stop-loss price has moved up simultaneously.
Step 5: Understand Other Conditions That Cause Trailing-Up to Stop
Apart from the price reaching the 'Stop Trailing-Up Price', the following situations will also cause trailing-up to stop:
Does not meet the minimum notional order amount
Does not meet the minimum order quantity
Price breaks through the trading pair's maximum price limit
After stopping, the grid will not automatically resume trailing up; it will continue running as a regular grid within the current range.
Verification: If the price has already breached the stop trailing-up price, confirm that the grid status is 'Running (Trailing Up Stopped)', not terminated.
Common Misunderstanding
Assuming that the base currency quantity per grid remains unchanged after trailing up
Many traders are accustomed to the logic of fixed base currency quantity in regular grids. However, when trailing up is enabled, each grid maintains a constant 'quote value', not a constant base currency quantity. As the price rises, the base currency amount bought and sold per grid decreases accordingly. This is by design, not a calculation error.
Risk Warning
Trailing up cannot be disabled once activated: During the current grid operation, you cannot turn off the trailing-up feature. To disable it, you must terminate the grid and create a new one.
Trailing up may cause buying at high prices: Trailing up chases the price after it has risen. If the market reverses and drops, you will hold positions at a relatively high level, facing greater drawdown risk.
Minimum investment requirement: When using the trailing-up feature, the minimum investment calculation differs from that of a regular grid, usually requiring at least 1.5 times the normal amount.

How to Verify Correct Range Changes
Go to [Running Bots] → [Order Details] and check the current 'Highest Price' and 'Lowest Price':
Compare with the initial parameters and confirm both have increased.
Check the “Trailing-Up Count” and verify it matches the price movement.
Check the “Stop Trailing-Up Price” to see if there is sufficient room for further shifts.
