How to Complete Security Initialization After Registering a Binance Account with Email?
Registering aBinanceaccount with email is just the first step. Your account is still in a "semi-open" state—relying solely on "email + password" as a single line of defense. If your email is compromised, your assets are exposed to risk.

The core of security initialization is toestablish at least three independent layers of protection: strengthen the identity verification channel, add email identification markers, and restrict asset withdrawal paths. Below are the four security settings that must be completed after registration, listed in order of importance.
First Priority: Bind a Phone Number and Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
This is the most critical step. It is recommended to useGoogle Authenticator, which is more secure than SMS verification and effectively defends against SIM swap attacks.
Steps:
Log in to the Binance app or website, go to [Security Center] or [Account Security].
First, bind your phone number under the [Phone Number] section (Chinese mainland +86 is supported) to receive backup verification codes.
Find the [Two-Factor Authentication] or [Google Authenticator] option and click [Bind].
Download the Google Authenticator app on your phone, scan the QR code provided by Binance, or manually enter the key to complete the binding.
Critical step: After binding, the system generates a backup key (usually 16 characters).Write it down and store it offline, do not take a screenshot and save it on your phone. When switching phones, this key is the only way to restore the authenticator.
Second Priority: Set Up an Anti-Phishing Code
This is key to identifying genuine Binance emails. Once set, every email Binance sends you will include your custom code.
Steps:
In [Security Center], find the [Anti-Phishing Code] option.
Enter a 6-character code (recommend a combination of letters and numbers, e.g., "ABC2026").
From now on, whenever you receive an email from Binance, check if the code appears in the body. If it does not, it is a phishing email—delete it immediately.
Third Priority: Enable Withdrawal Whitelist (Address Management)
Prevents assets from being bulk transferred if your account is hacked. Once enabled, withdrawals can only be sent to pre-approved addresses. Adding a new address requires email and 2FA confirmation, with a 24-hour cooling-off period.
Steps:
In [Security Center], find [Address Management] or [Withdrawal Whitelist].
Click [Add Address] and enter your commonly used wallet address (exchange address or cold wallet address).
Follow the prompts to complete dual confirmation via email and authenticator.
Fourth Priority: Complete Identity Verification (KYC)
Without KYC, your account will be restricted to "withdrawal only" mode, unable to deposit or trade.
Steps:
After logging in, go to the [Identity Verification] page and select your country of residence (users in Chinese mainland select "China").
Enter your name and ID number (must match your document exactly).
Upload photos of the front and back of your ID, and complete facial recognition.
Review is typically completed withinminutes to hours.
