Does Binance Force You to Set Up a Passkey to Log In?
No, it's not mandatory. Binance's "Require passkey verification for important operations" is an optional feature, turned off by default, and you need to manually enable it in the security settings.

It's an extra security measure. When enabled, you'll need to verify with your passkey when logging in and withdrawing funds. If you haven't turned it on, just log in normally with your email/phone number + password + 2FA (Google Authenticator/SMS).
Prerequisites
You are able to log in to your Binance account normally (if the feature is enabled but unusable, refer to the "What to do" section below).
You know which two-factor authentication (2FA) method you currently use (Google Authenticator or SMS).
Step 1: Check Your "Passkey" Feature Status
After logging in to Binance, go to [Account] → [Security] and locate the [Passkey] option:
Case A: The "Require passkey verification for important operations" toggle is OFF
This means the feature is not enabled, and you can log in using your original method. If you want to learn about or try the feature, find [Passkey] in the security settings, add one as instructed, and turn on the toggle.
Case B: The toggle is ON and you can use your passkey normally
This means you have voluntarily enabled the feature; you need passkey verification for login and withdrawals. This is a security measure you chose to set up, not a platform requirement.
Case C: The toggle is ON but your passkey is unusable (e.g., changed device, reinstalled app, or reset system)
When logging in, the system will ask for passkey verification, but you cannot use it now. See the next step.
Completion standard: Confirm whether your toggle is ON or OFF.
Step 2: If Enabled but Unusable, Use the "My Passkey Is Not Working" Process
If you encounter Case C, on the passkey popup at the login page:
Click [Cancel] or the close button in the top-right corner of the popup.
Select [My passkey is not working].
The system will ask you to enter your password, then take you to the "Reset two-factor authentication" process.
Follow the prompts to verify using your registered email or phone number, and reset your security verification method.
Note: After resetting your 2FA device, withdrawals, C2C selling, and other functions will be suspended for 48 hours as a security measure.
Completion standard: After a successful reset, log in with the new verification method (new device or new phone number).
Step 3: If You Don't Want to Use It, Simply Turn Off the Toggle
If you previously enabled the feature and now find it inconvenient:
Go to [Account] → [Security] → [Passkey].
Turn off the toggle next to [Require passkey verification for important operations].
Complete one verification with your passkey to disable the feature.
Once disabled, your account reverts to the original login method (password + Google Authenticator/SMS verification code).
Completion standard: The toggle shows OFF and you are no longer prompted for a passkey when logging in.
Common Failure Reasons
After enabling, switching to a new phone with the original device not at hand leads to login failure
This is the most common problem after enabling the feature. Once enabled, the passkey is stored by default only on the device where it was created. If you switch to a new phone, sign out of iCloud, reinstall the app, or reset system settings, the passkey will be lost. It is recommended to turn off the feature before changing devices.
Risk Reminder
You bear the risk of losing your passkey: After enabling this feature, if you lose your passkey, it will be very troublesome to access your account. You'll need to go through the "Reset 2FA" process, during which some functions will be frozen for 48 hours.
This feature is not mandatory: You can choose not to enable it at all, and continue to use Binance securely with the regular Google Authenticator or SMS verification.

How to Confirm the Operation is Complete
After completing the above operations, log out of your account and log back in using your original method (email + password + Google Authenticator code/SMS verification code). If the passkey verification popup no longer appears, it means the feature is disabled or was not enabled, and your account has returned to normal login status.
