Why Can't I Transfer Out of Binance Isolated Margin Even With a Balance?
An isolated margin account displaying a balance that cannot be transferred is usually not a system glitch, but Binance's risk control rules at work—your "Available Balance" does not equal your "Transferable Balance". Before any transfer out, the system checks the maintenance margin requirement. The margin locked by open positions, funds tied up in open orders, and unsettled liabilities all affect the maximum amount you can withdraw.

To move funds out, you can't just look at the balance number. You need to pinpoint the core reason why the transferable amount is zero.
Prerequisites
You are logged into your Binance account and on the Wallet - Margin Account page.
You are viewing the balance of an Isolated Margin account.
You have an open position or unsettled liabilities.
Step 1: Distinguish "Balance" from "Max Transferable Amount"
The funds shown in the Isolated Margin account include an "Available Balance" and a system-calculated "Max Transferable Amount". Many people see the available balance and think they can transfer it all, but in reality Binance's transfer-out rules are very strict.
Rule explanation (source: Binance Help Center):
Assets in an isolated margin account can only be transferred out when the margin level is higher than the transfer-out margin level threshold.
If the margin level is at or below the transfer-out threshold, you must first repay all liabilities (principal + interest) before you can transfer any assets out.
Maximum transferable amount = Total asset value - Transfer-out margin rate × (Total liabilities + unpaid interest).
Completion criteria: On the Margin Account page, find the "Max Transferable Amount" field for that isolated margin account. Do not rely solely on the "Available Balance" figure.
Step 2: Check for Open Isolated Margin Positions
Funds in the Isolated Margin account include the maintenance margin for positions. This portion is locked to support the current position and cannot be freely transferred out, otherwise the position risk would skyrocket. If you have an open position, your transfer-out capability is restricted.
Action:
Go to the isolated margin trading interface for that trading pair (e.g., BTC/USDT).
Check the "Positions" area to confirm whether there is any open long or short position.
If the margin level is near or below the transfer-out threshold, the transferable amount will be very small or zero.
Completion criteria: Confirm the position is closed, or calculate that the current margin level is well above the transfer-out threshold.
Step 3: Check for Unfilled Open Orders
If there are unfilled orders (limit orders, stop-limit orders, etc.) in the isolated margin account, some funds are frozen. When the system calculates the transferable amount, it deducts the margin occupied by open orders.
Action:
Go to the Open Orders page.
Check if there are any unfilled orders under that isolated margin trading pair.
If yes, click "Cancel" to cancel the order, then refresh the page and check the transferable amount again.
Completion criteria: The list of open orders under that trading pair is empty, or all orders have been canceled.
Step 4: Check for Liabilities (Borrowings + Interest)
If the isolated margin account has outstanding borrowings or interest, transfers are restricted. In an isolated margin account, assets and liabilities are matched one-to-one. As long as there are unsettled liabilities, funds cannot be fully transferred out—you must repay first.
Action:
On the isolated margin account details page, check the "Liabilities" or "Borrowings" field.
If liabilities are greater than 0, you can manually initiate repayment.
After repayment is complete, attempt the transfer again; generally, funds will be released. To transfer out all assets, you must fully settle all liabilities.
Completion criteria: Liability balance = 0.
Step 5: Check if the "Auto-Transfer Mode" is Managing Funds
If you enabled the cross margin "Auto-Transfer Mode", the system will automatically move funds from the spot wallet into the margin account. However, this rule mainly applies to cross margin. For isolated margin, transfers out still must comply with the aforementioned risk rules. An isolated margin account cannot bypass these controls by simply enabling "Auto Mode".
Common Reasons for Failure
Misconception: Thinking "Available Balance" equals "Spendable Money"
This is the most common misunderstanding. The "Available Balance" in an isolated margin account includes the margin that supports open positions. Binance stipulates that a transfer-out is only possible when the margin level exceeds the transfer-out threshold. If the maximum transferable amount computes to zero, you cannot make a transfer even if the interface shows a balance.
Risk Warning
Transferring out may trigger liquidation: If transferring funds from the isolated margin account causes the margin level to drop, your position could be liquidated due to insufficient margin.
Platform collateral limit: If a particular asset's total platform collateral pool is near its cap, transfers may be affected even if your personal account meets the conditions.
Error code identification: If using the API to transfer, you might encounter error code -3020 "Transfer out amount exceeds max amount.", meaning the input amount exceeds the maximum transferable amount. Reduce the amount or settle liabilities.

How to Confirm Operation Complete
After taking action, go back to Wallet - Margin Account and check the "Max Transferable Amount" field for that isolated margin account. If the value changes from 0 to a positive number, it means the risk control restriction has been lifted and funds can be transferred out.
It is recommended to initiate a small test transfer first, confirm it arrives normally, then handle larger amounts.
