Incorrect Position Size After ADL: 3 Key Items to Check in Your Trade History

After an Automatic Deleveraging (ADL) event, if your position size does not match your expectation, do not check your total account assets first. Instead, locate the specific trade record marked as ADL trade history entry, then verify three core data points: reduced position quantity, execution price, and remaining position size.

Check Item 1: The Deleveraged Quantity

ADL does not always close your entire position, it may only reduce a part of it. The system calculates the required quantity based on the under-margin gap, and takes the corresponding amount from the top positions in the ADL queue.

  • Operation goal: Find the position closing quantity in the ADL record, confirm if it is a full position close or partial deleveraging.
  • Operation path: Go to the [Order Center] or [Position History] page, filter out the ADL record by time, and find the "quantity" or "filled quantity" field.
  • Verification standard: Confirm the actual number of positions the system closed. If this number is smaller than your original total position size, it means the system only closed part of your position, and the rest remains in your account.

Partial ADL is very common. The system selects positions by ADL ranking from top to bottom. If your position is first in line but only half of it is needed to cover the gap, only that half will be closed. The remaining half will stay in your account and rejoin the ADL ranking queue.

Check Item 2: The Execution Price

The execution price of ADL is neither the market price nor the mark price, but the bankruptcy price of the force-closed position — the price at which the counterparty's account margin drops to zero. This price is usually very different from the current market price, so the "missing" funds you notice are not deducted by mistake, but come from the special execution price rule of ADL.

  • Operation goal: Check the execution price in the ADL record, compare it with the price you expected.
  • Operation path: Locate the average execution price or deleveraging price in the record, compare it with your original position opening price.
  • Verification standard: Confirm the ADL execution price, and note that this price is not an error in your account, but the predefined bankruptcy price set by the ADL mechanism.

Check Item 3: Remaining Position Status

After partial deleveraging, the remaining position is still in your account, but its average opening price and ADL ranking may change.

  • Operation goal: Verify that the quantity and average opening price of the remaining position match the data in the ADL record.
  • Operation path: Open the [Current Positions] panel, check if the remaining position quantity equals your original total position minus the ADL closed quantity, and confirm if the average opening price has any changes.
  • Verification standard: The quantity and average opening price of the remaining position are consistent with the ADL record. If the remaining position is still in the ADL queue, the ADL indicator light will recalculate and display your current ranking.

Final Verification After All Checks

After you finish the three checks above, use a simple calculation: ADL execution price × ADL closed quantity should equal the total filled amount in the order record (trading fees are waived for ADL, so you do not need to include them). The sum of the remaining position quantity and the closed quantity should equal your original total position size. If both calculations are correct, your ADL record is valid. If the numbers do not match, take a screenshot and contact customer support for further checks.
