How Do You Get Paid Selling NFTs on OKX? Listing, Royalties, and Canceling

When you sell an NFT on OKX, the money goes to your Web3 wallet, not your exchange account. Listing an NFT is free, and OKX's own marketplace currently charges zero service fees. However, you need to pay a one-time approval gas fee the first time you list, and you also pay gas when canceling a listing. Royalties are collected by the creator. If you are reselling an NFT you bought from someone else, the royalty is deducted from the sale price, and you receive the amount left after the royalty is taken out. The key thing to remember is that the "marketplace" you choose when listing determines the fee structure. Listing on the OKX marketplace has zero service fees, but listing on external markets like OpenSea means you pay fees according to their rules.

Listing: Approve First, Then Set Your Price

The listing page for OKX NFTs is inside the Web3 wallet, not in the exchange's "Finance" or "Earn" sections. On the app, go to Web3 Wallet → NFT → select the NFT you want to sell → List. On the web version, connect the OKX Wallet extension, go to the NFT page in your portfolio, select "My Collectibles," enter the detail page, and click List.

The first time you list an NFT from a specific collection, you need to complete an approval and pay a blockchain gas fee. According to the official guide, the first listing requires approval and an approval fee. Subsequent listings from the same collection do not require approval again. This fee goes to the blockchain network, not OKX. The amount depends on the current network congestion and gas price on your chosen chain.

There is a special feature in the pricing step: multi-platform listing. You can check multiple marketplaces in the same interface, such as OKX NFT Marketplace, OpenSea, LooksRare, and Magic Eden. You can set a different price for each marketplace or use the "Same Price" option to set one price for all. If you only want to sell on OKX's own marketplace, just check OKX. The service fee is zero. If you check external markets, the other platform may charge a service fee upon sale. The fee rate is based on their rules, and OKX's interface will not cover this cost for you.

Also, NFTs you created yourself need to be reviewed before listing. NFTs you bought on the secondary market do not need a review.

Royalties: Who Collects Them and Where They Are Deducted

You need to understand your role when it comes to royalties.

If you are the original creator, the royalty is the percentage you collect every time your NFT is resold on the secondary market. OKX explains that "royalties are collected by the creator at the time of sale, and the contract creator has the right to modify the royalty." This means the royalty percentage is written into the contract or platform configuration. The buyer pays the royalty as part of the total payment, and that portion goes to the creator. OKX also offers a "Mandatory Royalty Contract" tool, but it requires the collection to be exclusively traded on the OKX Web3 Wallet marketplace. These conditions are strict, so regular sellers usually do not need to use it.

If you are a reseller (you bought an NFT from someone else and are selling it again), you do not collect royalties; you pay them. The creator's set royalty is deducted from the sale amount first. The remaining amount is what you receive. You will see a breakdown of the royalty and gas fees on the listing confirmation page. Make sure everything looks correct before you click List.

Getting Paid: To Your Web3 Wallet, Not Your Exchange Balance

After a sale, the funds go to your OKX Web3 wallet address, not your OKX exchange funding account. These two are not connected, so you need to transfer funds manually if you want them in your exchange account. If you have both an exchange account and a Web3 wallet in the OKX app, do not look for your NFT sale money on the exchange's "Assets" page. It is not there.

Success is based on blockchain confirmation. After the buyer's payment transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, the NFT is transferred out of your address, and the corresponding tokens enter your wallet address. The OKX interface shows the order status, but the final record is on the blockchain. If the interface shows "Sold" but your wallet balance has not changed, check the block explorer for that specific chain to confirm the transaction status, and then check if you have selected the correct network in your wallet.

Canceling a Listing: You Pay Gas, There Is No "Free Cancel"

If you want to cancel a listing, go to the NFT detail page, find your current listing, and select Delist (or Cancel Listing). Follow the prompts to complete the on-chain action. Canceling a listing requires paying a network fee. The official FAQ clearly states that "the seller's address needs to pay the corresponding network fee when accepting a bid or delisting an NFT." OKX does not charge a service fee for canceling, but you cannot avoid the blockchain network fee.

Chiliz's developer documentation also mentions a similar rule: canceling a listing requires paying an additional network/gas fee. Gas costs vary greatly between chains. Canceling on the Ethereum mainnet can be much more expensive than on Polygon or XLayer. If you set an expiration time when listing, the listing will automatically expire after that time. In this case, you do not need to cancel manually, and there is no cancel gas fee. The official guide says you can set a validity period when listing. If it does not sell, the system shows an expired status. If you want to cancel manually before it expires, you need to go through the cancel process and pay the network fee.

What You Should Do

If you are just selling an NFT you bought on the secondary market occasionally, listing only on the OKX marketplace is the easiest option. The service fee is zero, and you do not need to research external platform fee rules. The downside is that your listing gets less exposure than a multi-platform listing, so the chance of a sale might be lower. If you need to sell quickly, or if your NFT has better liquidity on OpenSea, multi-platform listing is worth using. Just accept that external markets may charge a service fee, and the final fee details after a sale are based on the actual deduction.

Think carefully before canceling a listing: the gas fee is a sunk cost. If you list an item at a price far from the market value and then cancel it two days later, you pay another gas fee for canceling. These two fees together could cost you more than if you had set a reasonable price from the start. Setting a sensible expiration time when listing is more cost-effective than canceling later.

If you do not have an OKX account yet, you can use the invitation code 24U2795 when signing up through this site. The referral field is optional in the registration form. This code has no connection to NFT trading in the Web3 wallet. Selling NFTs uses your wallet address and on-chain gas, and it does not depend on the referral relationship of an exchange account.
