OKX has an official desktop client that supports both Windows and macOS. The only safe way to download it is from the official website (www.okx.com). Any installation package provided by third-party download sites may contain trojans or credential-stealing programs. After downloading, simply install it according to your operating system.

1. Check if Your Computer's OS Version Is Compatible

What to do: Check your computer's operating system version to confirm that the OKX desktop client can be installed.

How to do it:

  • Windows users: Right-click "This PC" → "Properties" and check the system version. OKX desktop supports Windows 10 and above, 64-bit operating systems. 32-bit systems and older versions such as Windows 7 are not supported.

  • macOS users: Click the Apple icon in the top left corner → "About This Mac" to check the macOS version. macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or later is required. Macs with M1/M2 chips are also compatible.

When it's done: You have confirmed that your current system is within the supported list and can proceed to the download.

If your system version is too old, it is recommended to upgrade first, otherwise the application may crash or fail to run after installation.

2. Go to the OKX Official Website to Download the Installation Package

What to do: Get the installation package file for your operating system from the official website.

How to do it:

  • Open your browser and type www.okx.com into the address bar (be sure to verify the domain to avoid phishing sites).

  • After entering the official website, find the "Download" button at the top of the page, or scroll to the "Download Client" section at the bottom.

  • Click the download button for "Windows" or "macOS" according to your operating system.

  • The browser will automatically download the installation package:

    • Windows: file name is usually OKxSetup.exe or similar

    • macOS: file name is OKX.dmg

When it's done: The installation package has been successfully downloaded to your local drive (usually in the "Downloads" folder).

Prerequisites:

  • Your computer needs a stable internet connection, and it is recommended to have at least 500MB of free space.

  • If the download is slow from the official website, try switching networks (e.g., from Wi-Fi to a mobile hotspot).

Common reasons for failure:

  • Antivirus software or firewall blocking the download – you can temporarily disable protection and re-enable it after the download completes.

  • Browser download interrupted – delete the incomplete installation package and download again.

Risk reminder:

  • Only download the installation package from www.okx.com. Any download links provided through search engine ads, unknown links, or third-party forums may contain viruses – do not click them.

  • The OKX desktop client is completely free. You do not need to pay any download fees.

3. Install the OKX Desktop Client

What to do: Run the installation package and complete the software installation.

How to do it:

Case A: Windows

  • Double-click the downloaded .exe file. If a "User Account Control" prompt appears, click "Yes".

  • Read and agree to the Terms of Service, then click "Next".

  • Choose an installation path (the default is fine; click "Browse" to change the location).

  • Click "Install" and wait for the progress bar to complete (usually 1–2 minutes).

  • After installation, check "Run OKX" and click "Finish" – the client will launch automatically.

Case B: macOS

  • Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to mount the disk image.

  • Drag the OKX icon into the "Applications" folder.

  • Open Launchpad or the Applications folder, find the OKX icon, and double-click to open.

  • If you see a "cannot verify developer" or "cannot be opened" prompt on first launch, do the following:

    • Go to "System Preferences" → "Security & Privacy".

    • In the "General" tab, click "Open Anyway" or "Allow".

When it's done: The client launches successfully and shows the login or registration screen.

Common reasons for failure:

  • If you see "file corrupted" or "insufficient permissions" during installation – right-click the installation package and select "Run as administrator" (Windows), or use a terminal command to remove the quarantine attribute (macOS).

  • macOS users who still cannot open the app after dragging to Applications may need to manually authorize it in "Security & Privacy" or run a terminal command to lift the restriction.

4. Log In or Register an Account

What to do: After launching the client, log in to an existing account or register a new one.

How to do it:

  • Existing account: Enter your mobile number/email and password to log in; if Google Authenticator (2FA) is enabled, enter the 6-digit dynamic verification code.

  • New user registration: Click "Sign Up" and follow the prompts to complete phone verification, set a password, and go through identity verification (KYC).

  • Quick login: You can also use the OKX mobile app to scan the QR code on the desktop client for a quick login.

When it's done: You have successfully logged in and can see the asset overview and trading interface.

Next steps: After installation, it is recommended to do two things first: 1) Enable Google Authenticator (2FA) under "Security Settings" to add a second layer of protection to your account; 2) Confirm that automatic updates are turned on (usually enabled by default) so you don't miss future version updates. The desktop client syncs with the mobile app in real time – simply log in to the same account to view all assets and order history.
