Tokenized stocks dividends are paid according to the rules of the issuing platform. Currently, there are two main models. Most platforms automatically reinvest cash dividends into additional stock tokens, while some platforms pay out USDT directly. You need to first check which entity issued your tokenized stock.

Step 1: Check the platform's dividend policy — read official announcements
Different platforms handle dividends very differently, which directly affects how you receive them. Here's how to check: Search for "stock dividend" or "dividend" in the platform's announcement section, find the latest dividend notice for your tokenized stock, and look for descriptions of "cash dividend" and "stock dividend" to confirm the platform's official definition.
According to Binance bStocks' official announcement, after deducting withholding tax, fees, and other costs, the net cash dividend will be automatically reinvested into the same underlying security to purchase additional whole or fractional shares. Eligible users will receive the dividend in the form of bStocks stock tokens. xStocks also uses an automatic reinvestment model, where users' token balances increase based on a multiplier set by the smart contract, rather than receiving cash.
Scenario A: Dividend arrives as stock tokens (automatic reinvestment)
This is the default model for Binance bStocks and xStocks. You don't need to do anything. After the ex-dividend date, the platform will convert your cash dividend into the corresponding stock token at the market price and add it to your account.
How to verify: On the day after the ex-dividend date, check your spot account balance for that token. If the balance increases by the dividend amount divided by the opening price on the ex-dividend date, the dividend has arrived. According to Binance, the dividend amount is the net amount after withholding tax. Before distribution, the platform will suspend deposits, withdrawals, and 1:1 conversion with the underlying stock for that token.
Scenario B: Dividend arrives in USDT (cash distribution)
Some platforms choose to distribute cash dividends as stablecoins without reinvestment. According to Bitget's Reality protocol, cash dividends are automatically converted to USDT and deposited into your account. Coinbase's upcoming 1:1 tokenized stocks also said they will distribute dividends in token form automatically.
How to verify: On the dividend payment date, check your funding or spot account for a USDT credit labeled "dividend" or "distribution" — that means the dividend has arrived.
Risk notice: With automatic reinvestment, you cannot choose not to hold the resulting fractional shares. If the platform does not offer an option to receive dividends as cash, your holdings will keep increasing. Also, if the reinvestment amount is smaller than the platform's minimum trade unit, it may be paid in cash or accumulated until the next dividend.
Step 2: Verify the dividend amount — net after withholding tax
Whether in cash or tokens, the credited amount is the net after tax, not the full amount declared by the company. Check the dividend notice or transaction history for "withholding tax" details to ensure the received amount matches the announced deduction rate. Binance and Bitget both state that the credited amount is net of applicable withholding taxes, fees, and other costs.

Common misconceptions and how to verify receipt
Many users expect dividends to arrive in the underlying fiat currency, but then see fractional stock tokens in their account and think it's an error. In fact, this is normal for automatic reinvestment, not a glitch. If you hold multiple tokenized stocks, each dividend will arrive separately in its respective token, not combined.
How to verify: After the ex-dividend date, go to your spot account or transaction history and check for new records. If you received stock tokens, your balance will increase, often with a note like "dividend reinvestment". If you received USDT, you'll see a credit in your funding account. If the dividend hasn't arrived within 5 trading days after the announcement, contact platform support to submit an inquiry.
