How to View Funding Rate and Open Interest Side by Side on CoinGlass
On CoinGlass, you can view both funding rate and open interest (OI) without switching between pages. Both indicators are displayed together in the same view, accessible from the homepage "Hot" section and on each trading pair's detail page. The method is simple: open the funding rate page, add the OI column to the view, and you can compare them directly.
Step-by-Step
Step 1: Go to the funding rate page
Visit the CoinGlass website. In the top data bar on the homepage, locate the "Funding Rate" column and make sure it is displayed. You can enable it via the "Customize" button in the top right corner. Alternatively, navigate directly to the Funding Rate page from the main menu, which lists the current funding rates for all trading pairs.
Step 2: Add the OI column to the same view
On the funding rate page, click the "Customize" or "Settings" button (gear icon) at the upper right. Check the "Open Interest" or "OI" box.
The table will then simultaneously display:
Funding Rate
Open Interest (OI)
OI Change (24-hour or 1-hour)
Once done, the table will have both "Funding Rate" and "Open Interest" columns, allowing you to see each pair's rate, OI size, and OI change at a glance.
How to read the combined indicators
With both metrics on one screen, you can quickly gauge the market state:
Signal 1: Price up + OI up + positive funding rate Longs are opening new positions, the market is hot, but a positive rate means longs are paying funding fees, and holding costs are accumulating. If the funding rate starts to decline from a high level, it could indicate that longs are starting to exit.
Signal 2: Price down + OI up + negative funding rate Shorts are opening new positions, and the negative rate means shorts are paying fees to longs. If the negative rate continues to widen while OI rises, it signals crowded shorts and could mark a potential bottom.
Signal 3: Price up + OI down + funding rate flips from positive to negative Open interest is dropping while the rate turns negative — that means longs are closing positions and shorts are gaining control. In this case, a price increase may lack sustainability and is a weak signal.
Advanced usage: check weighted funding rates
On the funding rate page, CoinGlass also provides OI-weighted funding rate and volume-weighted funding rate. These metrics are more accurate than the simple average rate, because they factor in position size or trading volume, reflecting the actual rate paid by larger traders rather than the average across all participants.
How to confirm your setup is successful
After saving the customized settings, refresh the page. If the table shows both "Funding Rate" and "Open Interest" columns with updated timestamps, the configuration is complete. From then on, each time you open CoinGlass, both indicators will be displayed together — no need to jump between different pages.
